I don't just mean drop games you don't like. I also mean dropping games that you don't have time for, or even games you like a bit of but move on.
I still stress a bit over my backlog. But I learned eventually that clearing my backlog felt more like work than a hobby. So I started retiring games I don't feel excited enough about.

I consider my backlog to be games I haven't ever played. Not games I haven't finished. I own plenty of games that I don't like, why force myself to do something I don't like just because I own it?
Personally, I rarely plan to drop a game, I usually just...do it once I notice I would rather play something else.

I don't think I ever deliberately drop games. I just sometimes notice I don't play a game as often anymore, or when clearing space for new games I realise there's a game I haven't touched in a while.
But even if a game hasn't been played in years, I sometimes still come back to it. I'm glad games are so easy to reinstall these days.

Maybe unrelated but I drop next-gen consoles and instead play my backlog. I also don't play games if there is a server component that has been shut off

Usually I get to a part I don't like, then say to myself "oh yeah I'll do it later" then later never comes

Double post, but to add on, I think I've dropped Dark Souls like 3 times, but I will defo get back to it, every time I replay it I get further, so I'll eventually beat it in my lifetime

I used the steam support feature to cull my total games library from 600 down to 150, getting rid of every game I know I'm just never going to be able to get myself to play. Did the same with my wishlist, from 300 long to 30 long.
Even of the 150 and 30 I'm not fully sure if I will play them all, but at least I got rid of the most obvious no's.
