My friend thinks the original Bayonetta is an old game

| He argued how there were no hack n slashes anymore and the only game he can buy is Bayonetta 1 or Devil May Cry (we don't own consoles). So, anyway, he didn't want to play Bayonetta because it is as old as his grandpa (and he also thinks that Bayonetta is ugly). I argued that Bayonetta is still a new game and it would be stupid to call it an old game. I still cannot wrap my head around how someone can call a game relased mere 2 generations ago. Just wanted rant to my g/u/rls.

| Ocarina of time was considered old and classic in 2006 and it released 8 years before that. I don't see why it would be wrong to call Bayonetta old, but I also don't see what's the problem with it being old.

Another thing is that it aged bad, which to my knowledge it didn't, it clearly is representative of the ps3 realistic graphics style, which is not bad but not everyone's taste

| bayonetta came out three years before i started playing video games. it's old.

| >>936473 visually it is of course little old since it's originally from 2009, but since it's "anime" cgi and it's not trying about photo-realism, i think that it's more than fine. I think that looks better than original Homefront. But i don't understand that he didn't said same thing about DMC.. As a classic i would tag older games, for example things as SEGA Rally, Crazy Taxi, Pac-Man and generally probably anything from PS2 gen and older what is still memoried.

| Bayonetta is pretty old but it's also still very pretty. Get you friend to stop worshipping AAA graphics.

| elona

| >>936538 tbh this

| I bet he plays genshin impact

| It's just a matter of perspective. The older you get, the longer it takes for things to fade from feeling new or modern to feeling aged and old. I still view PS3/360/Wii as being fairly recent, but it makes sense that people would consider it old. Bayonetta came out 14 or so years ago. People born in the same year are in high school by now.

| However: Games being old is one of the worst reasons to not play them. Your friend needs to get past that if they want to enjoy games as a whole.

| I was born 2 years after first bsyonetta

| >>936538 This, triple a have really gaslit people to see anything less than present day graphics as old and bad.

They dug their own grave since game dev will take a decade per game now with insane costs.

| your friend is dumb, but he is right about 1 thing: Bayo is ugly

| Idk what your friend's criteria for old is, but they're an idiot if they're dismissing one of the best action games out there for its age. It's still a more polished and deeper game than even those that came out the last decade.

Besides, there's a bunch of hack n slash games on PC. Devil May Cry 5, Nioh, Assault Spy, etc.

| It doesn't matter if the game is good or not, because if it's two decades old it's a dad game and in the eyes of a youngin', dads only enjoy lame stuff. I say, it's nothing short of biologically imprinted behaviour. We all have to accept the fact that hack n slashes ain't "it" anymore, and what's "it" is now weird and confusing to us. Except for rocking out, that will be "it" forever.

| >If you can't currently play it. It's old.

| It's 2 console generations back so it's fair to call it old imo

| I'm no longer in school, but back then we were emulating old pokemon game and share it around. PS3 has been released and we are all playing 10 years old GBA game, nobody complain about the graphics or release date.

No wonder everything in AAA sphere is all live service and re-release nowadays. Maybe in 15 years from now, people will refuse to play a game just because they can't gamble away their money to get a character that will be outdated in 6 months.

| >>936685 But Bayonetta 3 released this year, so series itself is still alive. And i think that a lot people will start by first or they will going to try it after playing newest one

| >>936687 tbh this is also pretty accurate, there are new IP rare but most expected games are usually rereleases. For example check Steam awards..
Spider-man: Miles Morales (Spider-Man 2002)
LEGO® Star Wars™: The Skywalker Saga (LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game 2005)
HITMAN 3 (Hitman: Codename 47, 2000)
Cyberpunk 2077 (new)
Elden Ring (inspired by Dark Souls, 2011)
Stray (new)
God of War (God of War 2005)
Death Stranding (new)
Raft (new)

| >>936715 You could also track Elden Ring further back to Demon's Souls (2009), and technically further to King's Field (1994), and the Cyberpunk TTRPG was 1988.

G/u/rl discovers the concept of a series for the first time

>>936735
G/u/rl discovers that everything that exists today derives one way or another from the past

| >>936735 oh now i see, my memory is little bad i thought that demon's souls released after dark souls.. about king's field i didn't hear about previously xd but screenshots are fascinating
>>936737 yup xd i think that is almost impossible to make new gameplay, there is a lot defined genres.. and series what are over decades old.. and these "new" are also having inspiration in older things just it isnt so much obvious.. but honestly i like this development, and that series are alive

| Recently made me really happy to see fatal frame series coming to pc.. before it i didn't believe that they would be ever ported. Now i can may hope about few games as fragile dreams, trauma center, Pandora's tower, ico, rule of rose, the last story, another code: r etc.

| It won't probably happen but hope never fall xd

| Or maybe Initial D xd

| >>936742 I see possibility in a few of these returning, but Fragile Dreams and Rule Of Rose seem the most unlikely (unfortunately, since I fucking love Fragile Dreams)

| The war of the zoomies is perpetual and eternal

| it's not old, it's classic
