People say this about any gacha because they latch onto one character design before they start playing and then have no other option but to throw a fit when they don't immediately get that character.
The big brain move is to go in blind and fall in love with characters you had no idea existed but love to use after getting them and playing around with them.

Gambling site give fake money for youtuber to gamble and they make money because the viewers get encouraged to gamble real money.

The fact that people will get their pitchforks if EA or Rockstar release a game that cost 100$/copy, while no one bats an eye when people spend 100$ for less than 50% chance of getting a CHARACTER in genshin already establish the fact that it has been normalized.

Actual Lizards (ActiBlizz) is one of the rare examples of where epic failures across everything... customer service, human resources, public relations, and just good old fashioned greed actually translated into them getting royally fucked internally and externally by people who control their moneybags.
| It's idiotic to spend money on Genshin outside of buying Welking Pass or Batte Pass. So I blame only the people who spend those money. Just this update I got Hu Tao and Jean + Homa and Elegy without spending a penny outside of Welking and BP. Problem when playing gacha is the "I gotta have it all" mindset. If you just pull for characters you wanna use you don't really nedd to buy anything.
