I've been in a massive slump recently, lots of sad stuff has happened so I was thinking of playing a game with my boyfriend but I can't think what it should be. Everytime I look up "Games for Couple's" it's always animal crossing and Stardew which isn't really our taste. Last time we played a game together we both really enjoyed was like...river city girls, metal slug x, we were thinking maybe shovel knight but weren't sure.

"Overcooked" and "Move or Die" are actually pretty fun couch co-op games.

Haven is a perfect game for couples, even though the movement takes a little of getting used to

Scott Pilgrim comes to mind, it's a street brawler.
Little Big Planet is fun co-op

Streets of Rage 4. One of the best brawlers out there. Its DLC came out last month, but for some reason Switch players can't buy it. You can play co-op and challenge your high score/rank.

Ninja warriors once again is really good as well. It is a side-scrolling beat-em-up arcade game.

Hyper light drifter is amazing and has co-op though I don't know how good the co-op itself is

Go retro, final fight series, bomberman series, tons of mario games and so on. Try beat em ups in general as well. Run and shooters, shmups. River city ransom, star fox games, Donkey Kongs etc.

>>778842 Hyper Light Drifter co-op is extremely good! It makes some of the fights less frustrating too. It's local only though

If you're on PC use steam remote play together to play couch co-op games, it's a little finicky but my gf and I played through all of overcooked that way and she's two states over

Nothing beats depression better than a good run of Dark Souls. And playing it co-op is fun!
... also, not really joking. DS might be hard and frustrating, but beating it sort of helps sorting stuff out (if you have the time of course)

My go-to for co-ops are usually beat'em'ups, but it sounds like you've already got that base covered.
Hack'n'Slash games could be good. Diablo 2, Champions Of Norrath, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (The originals), Path Of Exile.
Could always just play Halo or Borderlands for the umpteenth time, if you're like my friend group.
Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime is a good spacetime.
