I think of this a lot. Like if sega made better decisions and managed to continue on as a console creator. Or if commodore had better leadership that never drove it under and existed today as a competitor against pc and mac somehow.

Honestly I think it's a miracle that gaming consoles still manage to thrive at all today, considering tech is now consolidating around custom hardware with standard OS (Windows PC and Android mobile).
The best I think Commodore can go is, idk, building premade PC that still runs Windows anyway.

Nah, I'm glad SEGA is a publisher now, if they are still making console, I wouldn't be able to play yakuza games or shenmue on PC.

>>743045 I mean, not everyone has powerful PCs and having a device that's made specifically for games is just nice. Being able to play on a couch and on the go as well (if it's a handheld console), I mean, it's just nice. I enjoy both PC and console gaming, but over time I've almost dropped PC gaming completely because of how little you need to think. Just put game in and press play and then big colourful game on TV screen. I don't play much competitive games though.

>>743080 Most cheap PC's are as powerful as a console and getting a game follows the same steps than on console, almost every game is ready to go after installing it. But again people think about a keyboard and they go "Oh hell no" but it's just on your own experience and your needs, just make sure to respect others and get the more info you can before a decision.

>>743143 >Most cheap PC's are as powerful as a console Uh-huh, sure. What kinda fantasy dream land are you living in? Hell, a decent-ish GPU alone is gonna cost more than an entire console nowadays. Okay, I might be exaggerating somewhat, but I've yet to see a $500 PC as powerful as, say, a PS5.

>>743153 between the range of 800-1100$/€ there are a lot of laptops with many RTX, i5-i7 and 512 SSD. I live in the the fantasy dream land called reality where 10 years ago a USB of 8 GB was +18€/$ and now there are 128GB micro SD cards for the same price. Didn't say as cheap as a PS5 though, but a multi-task powerful as PS5 laptop smaller than that router console is more worth considering you are not wasting money on Online services.

And those are cheap laptops (what I meant), the expensive laptops round the 3000$/€ limit.

I- I never said I don't respect others. I just said that lately I've personally preferred consoles, and why consoles are still a popular thing.
But, I do have to disagree though. My PC cost around $700-750 if I remember correctly and I have to put my CS:GO graphics on low. Tbf it's been a while since I bought that and it isn't Windows, but I won't have the money for a new one any time soon.

Also, you know, just personal preference. For people who have the money to spend on powerful PCs or who just in general prefer it, I completely understand that. I'm just a lot more casual with my gaming and don't have that kinda money.

>>743178 $700 on what year? My 2016 800$ laptop definetly runs CSGO excelent with some high graphic settings. Been looking for an upgrade for 2 years and in the path I have seen how specs from 1 year can literally drop 500$ (from 1500 to 1000). Nowadays Acer Nitro Laptops and Asus Rog can be found around 900-1100 if RTX and they are really good if again, Multi-tasking, but gaming alone is really good on those. For GTX 1650 you have lower than 700$.

True is Covid damaged the market too much, but there's still definetly cheap options.

>>743178 and I didn't say that for you, just because I though I was starting to sound like "this is what everyone should think" I'm not doing that, I'm sorry if I do, I just like to consider lot of viewpoints.

>>743183 Well, I mean, we just have different computers then. I think mine is from around 2015-2016 as well, but I don't remember that well. I don't have very good memory. Sorry.
>>743185 Oh, I see. Well, yes. Of course it's good to consider every viewpoint and situation. That's why I never get involved in any PC vs console or console X vs console y debates, because at the end of the day people are in different situations and have different preferences.
