Fighting games are great tbh but a bit over-saturated and overrepresented in some niches. Street Fighter hasn't been good since the Alpha/2 and EX days and they wont stop usibg godawful huge models that take up the screen. But fundamentally a game like SF2, most Mortal Kombat games, and esp Tekken and Soul Caliburs 2 thru 4 have fantastic gamefeel and versatility within the bounds of their respective mechanics.
And yes, Smash is a fighting game. <3

Nah, I don't enjoy paying 15$ for 3 extra character and then another 15$ on 2nd character batch.

Tekken 7 was awesome. Played it for about 3 years and dropped it. Honestly, I cannot wait for GG Strive. Never played an anime before (played BBTAG if that counts) but that game looks like it could be really fun. Also the local pricing in my country is top notch -13 dollars-. So yeah I love fighting games. If you are anywhere near europe I am always up for a round or two.

>>738423 Being fair microtransactions and games being unfinished are endemic to the entire AAA game industry from jrpgs like FFXV to the yearly sportsball games from EA, to the action and shooter titles from Ubisoft and god KNOWS Actiblizzard is all in that shit.

Does anyone on this board know Skullgirls? I feel like it'd be appreciated in this community and I don't see people talking about it often enough. I'm pretty bad at video games, I'll be honest, but I feel like that game accomodates a wide range of skill (not to mention it's really beautifully drawn and animated imo)

>>738455 Some folks were talking about it a couple weeks back and lamentingit being associated in any way with scandal. I should pick it up sometime. I love crisp, 2d animated sprites in fighting games so that and Guilty Gear are on my list of things to master.

>>738455 Posts like these make me feel old because I feels like it was only yesterday that we were raving about Skullgirls in this board, but no, it was probably a couple years back already isn't it.
Yeah, lots of g/u/rls play Skullgirls. I haven't touched the game in a long time though.

I suck at fighting games. I get the inputs and notations, but when it comes to actual execution I panic. Also, Skullgirls fun.

>>738487 Same tbh.
What I don't like about Skullgirls is that playing with multiple characters is pretty much mandatory because assists and assist cancels are that strong. I'd rather play a single character, but between equally skilled players the one playing multiple will win almost always.

>>738488 I disagree to this. It is truth that having assist is very helpful, and most people (me included) prefer to have a solid team. But playing Solo is no disadvantage if you know what you're doing. I sometimes have to drop my team cuz I know my opponent doesn't know how to deal with a Solo enemy. It's honestly about what you're more confortable. After all, I know some top 10 guys who always play Solo and beat anyone, even on their lvl.

>>738455 Skullgirls is great! It's a bit too similar to MvC for my tastes but the art style and music are 11/10. I just hope Future Club can make something as good as Skullgirls or Idivisible even without ScumZ or Alex Ahad

>>738455 I fucking love skullgirls, even though I've never played online. I've been waiting for annie of the stars to get released on pc, and I'm hyped for the character after annie. I hope it's black dahlia, brain drain, or scythana.

The only fighting game I will truly accept is Boxing, from Wii Sports.

I love fighting games! I'm not good at any fighting games aside from Smash Bros, but I still enjoy the mind games and shit a lot.

I did animation for a fighting game. Super fun but testers gave suggestions which lead to drawing way more frames. Long story short, props to the art team on fghting games.
Skullgirls is rad but I didn't really dig the gameplay
