Do you enjoy RPG stats?

| When you play RPGs, are you one of the people who gets very into all the stats and geeks out over the little number differences and what they mean, or are you one of the people who mostly ignore that sort of stuff and is content with just having the mindset of "big number means good"?

Personally it depends on the game for me. In some games I get very obsessed with the little details and detailed stats, and in some I think "big number means good" and "can't go wrong with strength".

| Heck yesss. I love RPGs with Small Numbers where every differences matter(hi Fire Emblem!). Love to micromanage my number games. Though in some games I'll care more about, like, move sets and buff/debuff balancing than pure stats (hi Etrian Odyssey!).

This is for turn-based games, though. I don't play action-based RPG often, and when I do I usually just let numbers go brrr.

| >>723224 same here. I like it when numbers make me plan ahead in a turn based RPG.

But in an action RPG it's hit or miss. Especially when a high level enemy ends up being an HP sponge to dodge & hit.

Seeing someone mention Etrian Odyssey here melts my old frozen heart.

I do like to micromanage numbers, to an extent, as long as the stats can be reallocated at any point to allow actual experimenting. Otherwise I'll just look up a build and stop caring.

| I wouldnt say i geek out over it but it's such a great feeling when you finally gear up all your party members and are finally starting to dish out some damage and grow

| Been playing yakuza 7 alot lately good game

I agree. That's always a good feeling in any game. What I meant though was if you love the little details. Do you just equip newest gear and get happy when it does more damage or do you think about stuff like, for example, luck, agility, what kinds of damage it is, potential multipliers you can get if you equip the right stuff etc?

| I like it when the numbers are indicative of what's logically happening.
For instance, Dark Souls. Where you know the damage you are doing because it's well spelled, but also you have letter scales that don't tell you how they work, but you can guess cuz "S scale on Dexterity must mean good" and it does.
(Thought I do hate how they don't explain other hidden mechanics that do make big differences like poise or crits).

| I used to be "big number means good" cos I played games like Chrono Trigger and FF6 as a small child, both of whoch have fairly linear power progressions on armor and weapons. I actually first got interested in exploiting equipment effects, and from there I started looking at numbers. The best games to me are ones that allow all manner of mixing with no particular weapon or set having an absolute advantage (eg the armor set with highest DEF has shite MAGDEF and vice versa)

| I usually prefer action combat and despise turn-based and stuff that with a similar feeling. And in action RPGs or anything like that, intricate stats and all the long calculations you have to make really ruin it for me. Wouldn't stop playing a game I enjoy because of it, but still. For me it's all about the combat, things like graphics come last, and while simple stats are "fair enough", anything more complicated than that with an action combat game just feels out of place for me
