If you're gonna buy it (or already bought), which is your choice? Seems like either has exclusive non in-game content to offer.

I might get it on GoG. No offense to Steam, but I think i'll take advantage of the lack of DRM for once.

I never understood that DRM hate. I mean you can play steam games offline, so what's the difference anyway?

>>721287 Pirate it ofc. Tbh I'll wait to see what this game will be and maybe buy it when it's on sale two years after.
>>721408 Steam forces you to update and use their service to begin with. On GOG you just download the game.

>>721408 so yes steam does have offline play but if you haven't enabled that setting you can't and I believe it's still required you connect every x days
Gog you can download the installer put it on tape throw it in a salt mine for 200 years pull it out and install it on an air gaped PC

As far as steam goes it's not very bad or effective DRM any way, basically everything is cracked day 1 if it's just steamworks
But things like denuvo require you to connect like once a week, a token is then given that lets you play but you can only generate x tokens a month so if you try and play every week on say 3 pcs you might not be able to even though it's a legal copy you bought

(tokens are all behind the scenes, and it does way more than just that)

Ok, you made your point. Not gonna play offline in forseeable future, so it doesn't factor in for me. Just the bonuses and amount that goes to cdpr. Steam got a book, gog got a comix and 100% going to cdpgroup (whatever it is).

>>721408 If Steam ever shits its servers (like it's happened countless times before) you can't play even offline, the button that allows you to launch it in offline mode straight up disappears.

>>721467 I think I only witnessed that once actually.

>>721461 cdp group is the holding company for gog, both cd projekt red companies and whatever else they own
It's basically them saying the company behind the game gets everything even if it's split between different parts of that company instead of being split between them and valve
Not always. Some games that require DRM will either only allow you to play offline for a certain amount of time, or will prevent playing entirely, even if its singleplayer to begin with (!!!). Even then, there's the additional problem of being unable to move the game files from one hdd/ssd to another if DRM is present.

>>721509 Yeah I get that much. Just that back when witcher 3 released there was no group. It was just CDPR I think. Hopefully they don't become second EA in 10 years by growing big.

Pirating it is basically the canon thing to do.

I'll choose Steam. I knew the money will 100 present go to cdpr on gog, but my all friends are in steam and I believe 2077 will have online play mode in further like a dlc.

Since the best buy copy comes with the GOG code, I guess that's what I'm going with. For the same price as digital, you get what other devs would sell as the 90$ deluxe version. CDPR loses a bit of cash to BB/extras/shipping, but they wouldn't sell it if they couldn't turn a profit with it.

I'm leaning toward steam myself I guess. It has easy refunds after all. Not that I thought I'll be refunding it.

>>721720 gog refunds are not automatic but they do give you an entire month to start the refund process even if you've played it I believe

I just grabbed it on steam since I mostly use steam. Also just finished preloading the game.

>>721738 Done lots of refunds with steam and they give those even if you simply didn't like the game. With gog I'm not sure how easy it is. I'm mostly afraid it'll be too buggy to play or won't run at 60fps for me. IGN's review does say it's buggy and bad peforming (then again I won't be using RTX, so maybe that'll fix this).

It's about preferences.. If you like Steam platform, making screenshots on profile, interface and a in general probably there.. if you doesn't care about platform, want have 100% freedom about files without DRM and fully support publisher, than buy directly on GoG..

I chose GOG in the end. I have regrets, but I'd have those with either choice. I can still get full steam overlay functionality, so no loss.

I chose GoG as well. YOlO.

I'll buy it in 10 years once it's on sale for as much or less than what Fallout New Vegas costs, hopefully by then mods will be able to change all the things about the game I don't like

>>722326 You and me g/u/rl, though in my case is because hopefully in 10 years I can easily afford a PC that can run it well
Post number #722334, ID: 4330d9

>>722329 That also helps a lot, I cannot fathom why anyone would buy a brand new $1500 PC just to play a game that's guaranteed to be at best a flawed gem in need of modder's polish. That's what all of these openworld CRPGs are. Until mods have fixed all the bugs that will inevitably be left in and also let me kill Keanu in the opening and then augment myself until I'm the guy from Tetsuo the Iron Man, it's just not worth the price.

Well, Witcher 3 was good on middle end PCs and was awesome without any mods.

Why do you want to buy a bad game from a company with bad practices?
Post number #722440, ID: 4f4d46

GOG because of local patriotism I guess. Sure, its being "consoomer and supporting evil corpos" but I dont care. They get 100% of income so studio can grow more and we need this business here.
Post number #722725, ID: 4f4d46

>>722700 You Pole then? Valve isn't much less of an evil corpo than CDPR, so it's that either way.
Post number #723155, ID: d203ff

>>722658 Just the fact that they forced devs to crunch for basically a year should be enough not to buy it. Add to that all the lies that were just made to create hype, the fake inclusiveness that got reduced to "your gender is your voice", and the unacceptable ominpresent bugs, that's more than enough.
Post number #723284, ID: 4f4d46

>>723155 Crunch doesn't necesassarily amount to bad game, it doesn't have a strong relation to quality, while it does have some. The only lies I'm aware of are system requirements for the game, don't understand what you mean by inclusiveness. Bugs while not a business practice are utterly unacceptable. Didn't think it'll have as many as it does. But I still want to believe they'll make it playable in the following months. I don't think it's a bad game. Just unfinished. CDPR changed
Post number #723327, ID: 90c626

>>722725 I think you dont understand basics of economy. CDPR is POLISH company and Valve is HAMBURGER. I much rather prefer my corpo that gives people jobs than feeding your fat asses. Its only natural i want all the income to go into my own businesses kek.

It doesn't matter anymore, game turned out to be shit. Did you guys read the "apology" they issued? At least they are giving out refunds.

Even if it didn't have all the bugs and graphical issues, learning that it was another RPG-lite like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 killed any interest I had in it. There's nothing wrong with the genre itself, I liked Deus Ex a lot, but it's not what I wanted out of Cyberpunk 2077. I wanted something with more control (or at least the illusion of control) over the player character like VtM:B or New Vegas D:
