You know the articles. You know the controversy. Now, we want to know what YOU think!
(Alright, enough with the weird article click bait stuff). I'm curious what you g/u/ys think.
For me, nah. The game should be like the original. And difficulty does not equal accessibility. There are better ways to help than dumbing down games for someone.

Didn't hear/ read anything. Just limit content (endings, maps and bosses) and drops on and you are ready to go. What happened anyway?

Having more options is always cool, but since the game is marketed ar hard and developing a game is not easy I would much rather they just focus on making the game good rather than trying to pander to journalist, reviewers(these people arent even real gamers tbh), and people that wouldnt play the game as it is cuz its too hard

Also dumbing down a game so its more fit for "normies"(sorry for the unnionic use) can hurt the franchise, look at pokemon and paper mario, one side is the og niche fans that build the base and are now being neglected and on the other are the majority of casuals that dont really care about the francshise and will buy almost anything as long as it carries the brand and is somewhat fun even if it could be better

This topic is both hilarious and frustrating. The same discussion was held with DS3 and especially with Sekiro, and developers didn't give a damn, so why would people expect a different reaction on DeS?

>>710666 exactly!!! No reason to change what isnt bronken, like, easy mode could be cool but then you lookt at the ff7 remake thing where they complained the easymode was too braindead.

...why? The way soulsborne games designed leaves no place and/or need for difficulties

Some people have this weird idea where if they can't beat the game flawless with braindead effort, it therefore must change immediately or be marked a bad game forever. And some people are just pussies about hard games. I sucked at DS1 when I tried it mostly blind on the switch, and yeah I quit at the SIX Kings, but I didn't auto mark it as bad because hard. It's still a good game even if i suck at it.

Hell, I'd say difficulty levels are kind of pointless in this generation. Most games just do it the same way, modulating health and damage, and that only helps so much if you suck at a game. And usually easy is insulting compared to normal.

Nah. It could have other settings to make shit easier though. But difficulty select is, like, usually just amount of HP or DEF that you and enemies have, which just makes the game unbalanced and makes it feel more boring and less rewarding and shit.

>>710694 Practicing and overcoming the challenge is already a selling point itself anyway. If I suck at a game, I'm not going to demand it be easy. I'm going to want to either learn how to get better or just quit the game.

>>ce5dfc exactly. That's why I fuckin love Furi. If you refuse to learn the game, you will lose 9 times out of 10. Same with Soulsborne

ALL SOULS GAMES ALREADY HAVE AN EASY DIFFICULTY SETTING: ITS CALLED NPC SUMMONING

>jolly cooperation nah, no difficulty setting works well. if you're capable of learning patterns then you can play soulsborne games. do not succumb to the demands of dogshit game journalists.

Yes, in the early development of DeS it was going to be perma death, they should add a hardcore difficulty with perma death

>>712419 kinda obvious but you could do a DIY permadeath just deleting the savefile after dying. also, all souls games have death somemwhat integrated with the lore: the curse, soul form, etc.

you could probably do it in des actually by shattering you're nexial binding come to think of it, fits lore, and adds a challenge
You could delete your save yes but that's less fun than falling off a cliff and the deleting save dialogue comes up

>>712491 self-imposed challenges are a different experience from organic challenges. It's not the player's job to punish themselves, that's what game designers are for. Most of us don't bother unless there's a tangible reward, including a high score/record time.
