Why do game companies always have these fanboys, who defend them no matter what?

That's just how people work, I guess

The conspiracy nut in me wants to say they're being paid to. Some people just have Stockholm Syndrome or a case of sunk cost fallacy.

I don't get it either. Especially the console fanboys who think exclusivity is a good thing. "Oh boo hoo, this game got ported to other systems for more people to enjoy. Now my plastic box is worthless despite it still playing games just fine."

Do they? I mean maybe someone like CDPR, but most companies don't have fans. Those who have made great games and are being met with great expectations.

>>706858 Nintendo, EA Sports, Activision, Blizzard, Sony and not videogame related but Apple. They can do whatever they want that there will be always someone defending their bad policy and buying their products at any possible cost because if they are big companies they are doing it right.

>>706881 Activision and EA? Really? Never ever I've seen anyone defending them. I genuinely thought everyone hated these bastards, but it seems like I'm wrong after all (゚ペ)

>>706896 I heard last year or the one before that EA is actually most hated company in America (don't know how they gauged it tho). You're not wrong I think. Others yeah, they aren't that bad yet tho.

Why does anything?

What if there is no fanboy. People just like to defend things that they currently like, and there are a non-zero probability of liking literally anything that exists.

Simply the way the mind works. "I bought a game from them, if they are a crappy company then it means I'm stupid for giving them money. Thereforw, they're not a crappy company, and I need to find ways to prove it". And then since they "proved" it was a good company, they buy more from them, etc. Add to that some sect-like behaviours from some companies *cough*apple*cough* (sorry, corona), and you get a perfect combo.

>>310f5a that's what I was thinking in terms of sunk cost fallacy. People usually hate feeling like they wasted money, which can also lead to huge hours in crappy games.
>>3eb38f I think it was actually their 6th time getting that "award"

>>706896>>706898 I know, its true you almost never see anyone defending them, but there is a large player base playing those games and buying them regularly and yearly, specially Cod and Fifa, casually or not they act like fans buying the same game every year, with maybe little engine improvement every 5 years.

Not gonna say any names but you know that very old company selling the exact same game since 1990's and still loved by everyone even though their target audience are kids. They also use that infuluence to bump their product prices more than other companies because they want to be different like the Apple.
Even "EA" the worst game company try different things time to time but seeing the same mascors created by these fuckers over and over again over the years made me hate them.
