You have to be a little more specific OP. What genre of "sci fi spaceship games?"
Like, full on simulators like Evochron Mercenary, Freespace, arcadey stuff/Colony Wars like House of the Dying Sun, RTS like Homeworld, etc?

Everspace is cool, I guess? Rebel Galaxy is kinda fun, too.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is pretty basic but I spent quite a number of hours on it when I was a wee lad.

Starsector, and, with some experience, add Nexerlin to it. Great ship loadout customisation, flleet management and combat. Also open world with fully live economics. With Nexerlin it even comes close to a proper 4x. I'll also second FTL.
