SMT V IS ALIVEEE
And ugh, SMT3 remaster is great news, but I don't think I can get both within the same year. I don't know if I should just grab Nocturne as soon as it's out or wait for V.

I don't own consoles :(( Man I wish they release these on PC getting tired of emulating

>>681367 I'm fairly optimistic on that end. With how Golden's port went in terms of sales, it'd be dumb if Atlus *didn't* seize a chance for more money AND more fans of the old-school in one go by porting to PC as well. Time will tell.
>>681299 Worst case scenario, you can always emulate Nocturne's PS2 release. Waiting for V would arguably be the better option, because no duh.

i know that you're excited, but 2021 is a whole year that hasn't started..

>>681839 SMT fans somehow covinced themselves that SMT V is canceled because the game was announced as switch is launching; yet, it hasn't been released and new info hasn't been around for more than a year.
They are so thirsty that a release year is might as well a release date in their parched throat.
This is despite looking at the history that -SMT II and SMT III has 9 years gap -SMT III and SMT IV has 10 years gap
Honestly, 2021 release year can be considered as quick.

>>681868 Kinda silly to only look at the numbered titles. Megaten has a lot of spin-offs too.
Between Nocturne and IV there are the Raidou Kuzunoha games, Digital Devil Saga, Devil Survivor, and even a mainline game in Strange Journey. Between II and Nocturne we got the Devil Summoners, P1, P2, if, others I can't remember.
(I think Persona since P3 has diverged enough both in dev and player-base that it's not useful to count them in)

>>681899 well, we are talking about numbered title here (smt v), no?
It is only natural that I am basing it on the gap between numbered titles. Yes, if Atlus wants, they can release numbered title in 2-3 years gap, but they didn't work on SMT V immediately after IV was released. They went for SMT IV: Apocalypse and Strange Journey Redux instead. So Atlus is still doing their usual numbered and spin-offs alternating.

Plus, they can't reuse 3d demon model from nocturne because it is outdated, while IV's are 2D.
Well, maybe they can borrow some from P5, I haven't played P5, idk if the Persone are already in Unreal Engine 4.

>>681905 Not much between IV and V though, is there? IV:A, a couple of remasters (DeSu, Redux), TMS I guess (not that most SMT fans will touch that with a ten foot pole). The gap shouldn't be as massive as between II and III or III and IV.
I have no doubts the dev team might be busy with many other things. But you gotta admit the fans have been waiting a pretty long time.

G/u/rl, I don't want another release date. I just want a normal date. With you.

>>681357 personally for me. I'm not a fan of most Switch exclusives so far and the ones I do like I've already completed. So yeah there's no reason for me to use Switch rn

>>681922 they have the re:fantasy thing. They also got bought up by SEGA and I saw Atlus credited in Yakuza Kiwami 2 iirc. So there're backend stuff that they also do in betweens.
Can't help but to grin when I see TMS mentioned, lol poor game, always be the butt of the joke.
They've waited for a long time, but all I wanted to say is that they should have expected to wait for even more if they decided to be a bit realostic and look at the numbered entry track records.

Atlus is partially to blame here too, I have no idea what is the purpose of SMT V first switch trailer other than smuggling Mara into kids eyes.
Whatever hype they wanted to build has surely turned into frustation when fans have to wait 4 years until they can play the game.

>>682029 Oh yeah, I wonder how re:fantasy is doing.
Atlus seems to have a thing where they announce something super early in development. Anyone remember the SMT x FE teaser?

>>682143 I'm talking about the first teaser trailer. I think it was from 2012? It just shows a bunch of the protagonists followed by the games' logos, no indication of what the game is about.
It got me excited, but I'm glad it got off my radar because boy I definitely did not expect the game that came out of that.
