I doubt the trash thing is intentional, and in the pacifist ending you clearly see that humans have nothing against monsters and that the current generation has nothing against them, and probably thought stuff like the monster war was only fairytales. The monsters still holding a grudge against another race simply because their ancestors long ago were bad is not acceptable or even understandable. It's just racism.
