I want to know if it's common, because right now, for me, it's soooo hard

I use a Logitech gamepad. And I also completely suck at fighting games, but I'm pretty sure it's for some other reasons.

You can definitely get to high level with a keyboard, it's not common at all, but you can start there and latter upgrade to a hitbox/mixbox with a similar layout if you want to get serious about it (travelling to tournaments serious). Make sure you get a good keyboard and look its ghosting, as some games might require multiple key inputs simultaneously and you don't want any failing to register.

I know a friend who uses keyboard and he still kicked ass while others used controllers. This was when we got together online for Skullgirls.

I personally prefer to play with my Genesis controller as it's nice and comfy and has just enough face buttons for a fighting game. I've tried using a keyboard but i usually can't input too many things at once without it starting to freak out u.u

YES! YES! YES! I used to emulate a lot ofarcade games in my toaster (before I manage to buy a PS4 Pro) so I got used pretty quickly to play with keyboard and it's the only way I find it comfortable if I'm honest, I find it more easy to play rather than a controller, there is less chances on missing an input and I just find it more precise than the joystick if I'm honest.
Ps: hopefully this video will help you!!! https://youtu.be/GdvCG_ISoaM

I can't stand it even with a gamepad. Will likely buy an arcade fighting stick for the next generation. Buying current gen one and using it pc-only seems like a waste.

Lmao I play with a keyboard, mostly due to years of MUGEN influence.

I still play some KoF 2002 with keyboard controls, it may be a handicap but I got used to it

Used to play on gamepad, but recently made the switch to keyboards. The bigger buttons make inputs easier and they're way more acurate than arcade sticks. The only complain kr drawback is the keyboard is probably for grappler characters, as they play better on arcade sticks, what with the half circle/fullcircle/720 inputs
