I'd agree on 7. If we don't account for game design evolution or graphics I'd say 4.

I definitely prefer 4. It's not because of nostalgia, because I actually didn't play it until 2 or so years ago. There's just something about it. 7 would probably be my favourite, but I found the enemies and environments to be pretty boring.

I think the reason I really like 4 probably is the replayability and the cheesy story. It's something I can kind of just play while chilling, and unlock new stuff even though I've played it multiple times and find little strategies and stuff on how to most efficiently move through the game. Stuff like that.

I spent more time playing the Raid Mode in Revelations 2 than I did on Resi 1-5 combined. I really love getting new guns to drop and little parts to mod the ones I do have as well as upgrading my skills. I'm sad there's nothing else like it but more indepth.

Probably 2. It set up a lot for the series. Depends on what you are looking for in Resident Evil. 0-3 give the aspects Resident Evil is known for. Fixed camera, survivng with little resources. 4 was innovative and maybe has the best mix of old and new overall. 5 has good co-op and lots of characters in the Mercenaries mode.
