I finally built my ultimate gaming rig which is hardly ultimate at all. And yet all the AAA games I okayed so far ran very well.. too well. We're talking 200+ fps on Ultra here, which means I've been playing garbage games since Graphics fidelity is the only thing that matters in videogame.
tl;dr what's a good game to benchmark the latest pc hardwares?

Uhh, Red Dead Redemption 2 with 4k, ray-tracing, and ultra widescreen settings? Maybe FFXV? I'd say FFVIIR when it comes out, but apparently it's not coming to PC for a while.
Sorry, I just realised my brain has been trying to ignore AAA games since my PC is a potato.

>>642339 yeah, the good AAA games are on the PS4. why own a pc again?

>>642397 PS4 and Switch has a lot of good AAA. I don't really see the reason to play on PC unless you just heavily prefer mouse and keyboard.

>>642397>>642403 graphics options and more indie games are usually big selling points on PC for me.
Of course, I play on consoles more because I don't have to research if my PC meet the recommended specs

>>642413 I don't really see why graphics matter that much. It's not like the games look bad on console. Indie is definitely a selling point for me as well, but my 10 year old Mac works just fine for that, and this was about AAA, not indie.

>>642403 Yeah, I just noticed that I preferred the controller in every way. Though mouse+keyboard is def the preferred controls of some games, such as fps, sim, and rts. I guess I answered my own question. Now y'all gotta recommend me those types of games lol.
>>642413 The switch is littered with indies, and I think consoles are moving in that direction where developing a game doesn't require you to buy a $20000 dev kit.

Sorry I was joking about the recommendations thing. I want to keep the thread focused, so specifically about high end graphics games.

VR is gonna be a very gorgeous experience, and sure will be taxing those gpus of yours. I think photorealistic is standard now... Maybe lighting differences with the real world strike me the most. Faces can look amazing now. Details everywhere. Bipod models, despite feeling like they actually weigh something, have some impossible momentum shifts in the body parts. It seems like they're "hopping" to me. Maybe it's the lack of motion blur (my fault for turning it off).

I'd say if it can run crysis 1 with graphics mods in a playable manner, that's nice... I honestly don't know what is considered a good benchmarking game

>>642397 PC is the end of the line for old games, everything is developed using one, and even when the hardware is dead, your CDs don't read, and the memory's have faded, emulators will be there to bring it all back

>>642457 yeah, I'm very interested in VR, and somewhat excited for ray tracing. I think those are the anticipated future for videogames, but they are just too expensive and not really worth it at the moment.
