I never play those I feel like there is no turning back once I decide I wanna be compared to everyone else.
Is it an oxymoron to play ranked matches casually ?

it's perfectly ok, just don't shift your mindset thinking "win win win", that's dumb and untrue. mistakes are experience, as long as you actively understand them. keep it casual if you wanna fuck around. go competing if you think you can learn something from it. turning back is always an option, if competitive feels like shit.

ranked matches suck because everyone is angry. This goes for every single competitive game in existence. I'd much rather have fun playing video games than spending hours of my time being miserable just so I can have a little badge or whatever at the end.

I only get frustrated with ranked play. Even if I win the match, the stress of competition leaves me spent, and not in a good way. My friend, on the other hand, considers non-ranked play a complete waste of time, you might as well have not played the game if you haven't played ranked.

>>642142 that last bit kinda make sense I think. I don't necessarily think ranked matches are mandatory, but rather if the game is designed around competition might as well try to compete.

>>642144 Well, for me non-ranked is friendly lighthearted competition, and ranked is salty tryhard mode.

>>f86f0f They are fun because everyone is angry. Especially on low levels - people are extremely toxic. It is so easy to begin a shitstorm and bask in someone else's rage. Just have fun with tryhards, not try hard yourself.

I love playing ranked when just chilling with my friends. I never have good rankings, I loose either the same amount or more often than I win, but if it's a game I enjoy and I'm just having fun with friends then it ultimately doesn't matter. I don't view it as comparing myself to others. I view it as being matched with people around or slightly above my skill level, which is a lot more fun than playing with some things/mechanics turned off and against people who are completely new.
