boy it's so weird. the level design is weird. it's consecutive nondescript halls with slight variance in design that somehow make them feel different. like the next bonfire after the undead burg was located in this random room that I completely missed throughout multiple deaths due to how unremarkable it is. also the items are weird. you get HUMANITY from RATS ??!?! I love/hate the lack of exposition as well. I'm a fated WHAT?? WHY DOES EVERYONE TRY TO KILL ME etc.

>>611700 I think (mostly) everyone triying to kill you should've been explained already. It's because most of this world's inhabitants are hollow, i.e. batshit crazy murder hobos. Others (some of the bosses) are just a pretty agressive bunch that see you as a potential hazard to their plans/intentions/ideals.

You are a fated zombie, and everything in the game's world hates zombies, including zombie mobs.

>>611716 How do you explain them not killing each other.. I mean I kinda get they are guards in their previous life (from their attire and station) so I guess they are following their instinct by attacking the "intruder"? I haven't seen a guard attacking the hobo tho. Or hobos attacking each other.

I.. beat the gargoyle and it was all thanks to that SUN FETISHIST GUY what the heck man he stole all my glory.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong here. I tried trial and error as best I could but every try mean walking all the way from the bonfire. Barely learned about stepping backwards instead of rolling and get stabbed from behind. The mini-bosses are fun though.
>>611786 how to shield? I have now marked them as "equip that halves your attack because you can't 2-hand wield"

Did you really went blind into the game? I envy you so much.

>>611856 You do? That makes me happy about it actually. I mean about the fact that I'm probably making the worst character build ever. But so far I can describe my experience as "pleasantly confused".

Though we'll have to see. So far I'm liking how "intentional" everything is. Out of topic: the last time I played an action game with a guide was majora's mask (I was also really late to the party with that) and I only half-regretted it because of how confusing and time consuming that one quest is (you probably know which one if you played mm).

>>611858 I'd like to erase my memories of it and experience it for the first time again. Pretty much yes Don't use the guide for the first playthrough.

I started playing it pretty recently too. From the sound of it I've gotten a bit further than you, but not by that many hours. I also went into it more or less blind (I've watched the entirety of DS3 but they're actually pretty different, and that was years ago), which feels great, honestly. I'm surprised I haven't really gotten it spoiled and shit.
You mentioned the level design, which is actually one of my favourite parts of the game. It's incredibly well designed. Great game.

>>611896 Heck yeah. The levels are great. I like the interconnectedness in particular. It feels great mentally mapping out a place and memorizing where each enemies are and ambushing them. I mean, when you die 20 times in one route it's hard to not remember them all..

>>612427 Exactly. Fuck, the shortcuts dude. I'm legit about to orgasm every time I feel a good shortcut. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to game design and From Software are fucking great. It gets me so fucking hard.
