Hi all, is FFXIV worth it if I've never played an MMO before?

| I got a suggestion from a friend that I should play it, and I've heard lots of good things about it but I don't want to play if it's a Skinner box made to take my cash monthly. I also don't know anything about MMOs, so if it's worth playing, is it hard to get into? I never played final fantasy btw

| Do some research on the game. Read about it and look at gameplay and shit. If it seems like something you'd enjoy, then great. If not, don't buy it.

| I recommend getting the trial first since it is unlimited gameplay until you reach lvl 35 in a class then you can either lvl a different class or buy the game. I bought it and didn't really have time to play it every day so my subscription got wasted and I didn't even reach lvl 30 yet so I think the trial is useful. Also I believe buying it directly from square and using their client is better than steam because usually steam doesn't get as much love from them.

Yeah this. It's free to try so just try it

I don't play it myself but I only heard good things about it. Even if MMO isn't your thing, it has a solid story to go through.

| Also of you do get it when your installing the game often times you get an error at some point throughout the download. If you see that get a VPN and use it while the game downloads.

If you don't have a VPN a good free one is proton VPN.

| It's an amazing game, definitely worth checking out even if you've never played an MMO or an FF game in general.
It's structured like a regular RPG, so there's a (really good) main story for you to follow and the content is mainly unlocked through that. You can also use every class/job on one character so you have a lot of freedom even on the free trial, which I highly recommend since it gives you a good enough idea of the game.
