Will I like Divinity OS2 even if I'm more into JRPG?

| I like RPG, but I'm way more used with JRPG and its linear stories, clear characterization, and focus on battles. I don't like not knowing where I have to go or taking too long progressing the plot bc they expect you to explore.

But I did enjoy the three Shadowrun games, VtMB, Skyrim, and what little I've tried of DA: Inquisition. I'm thinking of playing another Western RPG.

Is Divinity: Original Sin 2 a good place for me, given all the above?

| Maybe, it does have turned based battles, and good characterization. However, the world was designed to have a lot of freedom. Nothing important is particularly hard to find, but you are expected to explore.
I like some jrpgs and I like Divinity OS2, but they are definitely scratching different itches.

| Its very strongly related/similar to Dungeons and Dragons irl, so if you're into that Divinity should be right up your ally.

I like D&D a lot, but I've never actually played a game myself. Kinda curious with this game because of that too.

I think I gotta note that I bounced off Divinity OS1. It might just be because of the stutters and lags (my PC's not too good), but also the starting town is just not compelling at all. I spent too long walking around it not knowing what to do.

I have a Switch to play DOS2 now, so not worried about lags anymore, but will I have the same issue as with DOS1?

| DOS2 player here.

You shouldn't have to worry about losing the plot too much, most important stuff is clearly signposted, but there is a layer to the game that requires some abstract thinking.

Stuff like using gloves with the power of teleportation imbued in them to reach loot which is hidden around the game world in places that you normally cannot reach, or using the same gloves to drop barrels of oil from the area onto enemies at the start of combat, then using fire arrows

| Have played it on controller a few times for couch co-op, and it handles okay, but can be a bit hard to control.

Otherwise, a great game: 9/10

Stuff like that is actually super interesting to me, since it's not a thing in JRPG at all. But is creative thinking like that required to progress? Or is it just to get extra stuff?
