I have witcher 3 on gog. I imagine CDPR gets more money from gog sales with it being their platform.

GoG is DRM-free(allegedly, hard to tell with the GoG Galaxy client being a thing) and the money goes to CDPR

>>575575 More money to CDPR is good. They can make more awesome games with it. I don't dislike Steam's DRM however.

>>575575 All the Singleplayer games are truly DRM-Free, except for the ones that requires Online Functions like Multiplayer. But you can still launch them without Galaxy regardless

I would go gog personally

GoG advertised that 100% of the money would go to CDPR. And in general, GoG is just better than Steam on every aspect.

I'd love to get it on GoG but if it runs on Proton I might want it for Steam. I'll just buy it twice

>>575622 I mean, where else is the money going to go

>>575684 If that's not rhetorical - to valve (30%).

>>575757 I think that g/u/rl meant more where else money would go from purchases on GoG, since GoG is owned by CD Project anyway.

>>575575 Galaxy is just a client that lets you download an buy from your desktop there's no drm built in at all they're just building tools for quality of life, speaking of which there's a new gog client in the works and I really want to try it

>>ccbe2a is hog better than steam in "every" aspect. I haven't used hog before but I will probably get cyberpunk on it, but to say it's better than steam in everyway seams like a bit of an overstatement to me. I'm not denying it is or isn't because I haven't used it before but it does seem kind of far fetched to me

>>576443 Two years ago it wasn't. Now, it is. The only thing it lacks is the amount of games, but it's also a good point when opposed to Steam's strategy of selling thousands shitty games for easy profit.

Ehhh I would not say it's better than steam in every way, Galaxy 2 might change that but it's not out yet so we can't take that into account

>>576493 Well, I've yet to see the many, many problems the Steam launcher has, as well as design flaws, on the GoG launcher. It's not perfect, but still better that the utterly crappy steam launcher

>>576494 you're going to need to elaborate because I see it the other way around, galaxy 1.x uses the default windows borders which looks bad in windows like the chat where there is already another border. There is in general too much dead space around text, and none of this can be fixed by the user because there's no skin support
overall I prefer the steam client simply because I can make it look the way I want, perhaps galaxy 2 will fix all this but that remains to be seen

Much of what I dislike about it I dislike with the current modern design, it's form over function and I do not want to scroll to read my games list especially when I can see 4 times more in my current steam view at a time, I can see 64 games, not including sorting categories (+6) in steam vs 16 in gog for the same vertical screen space in the library view for both, or for galaxys side bar games list, about 27, still much less than my current steam skin

I think I will prefer steam. I understand that gog is cdpr's platform, but I think they will be bathing in money no matter what, and steam is where all my games at and I'm completly fine with the platform.

>>576563 what you can do is buy it on gog you don't even need Galaxy to install it, then add as a non steam game to steam, that way you get the drm free version you can do whatever you want with and still have access to the steam overlay
