Terraria?

| It's out for the switch but it's crazy expensive (24.99 pounds wtf?).
It doesn't have any exyra features, at least that's what I heard.
Idek if it has crossplay.
Anyone got terraria yet? What's it like and any idea why tf is the price so goddamn high?

| Probably because Nintendo, have you noticed how most games are more expensive on the Switch?
Except games from Bandai Namco but it's because their games are overpriced on every platform

| Terraria is like minecraft, a bad game with a big success due to luck. Let it die at last and go play better, cheaper games.

| Terraria gets quite boring in the mid-late game

| >>574362 it's "exclusivity" right now it's that it's the only version outside PC that's on 1.3. On Switch The game has some issues like not having Split-screen and local-play on launch (they'll add it eventually). I doubt Terraria will ever be Cross-Platform, as it takes lot of time to do updates and ports, the coding must be really different between platforms.

| Yeah 30€ it's expensive for a game that usually on Steam is at 5€, but it's worth if you consider how much content and work have been bulding since the beggining. The Terraria that costed 10€ wasn't even near to the Terraria we have right now.

| >>574566 you're making me want to re-download terraria on PC just to see how much has changed

| >>574368 it's okey to give your opinions but if you are just pre-judging the game by it's title and popularity why are you even clicking in the thread if it's named after a game you just don't like?

| >>574568 I would tell you to do it, but maybe it would be better to wait for the 1.4 update as lot of changes will be taken in the visuals and gameplay. But this update might take months :/

| >>574569 Pre-judging? Not really since I played those games for quite long.

| I heard that Terraria on Switch has Touchscreen controlls that you can use to Sort your inventory

| >>574753 then you'll know they aren't bad games, they are unique, they got popular because they were the first games to do what they do, other than being indies and hearing their fanbases, that wasn't luck, that was effort. (Microsoft it's kind of ruining it but that's for another day)
>>574758 Yes it has, makes things lot faster looking around the inventory and building in portable mode, it's a shame because the controller's option it's honestly horrible, makes things a lot slower

| >>574865 Effort? Minecraft was at best a proof of concept that got out of hand, they never cared about the game and left a hundred bugs. The reason people think Java is a slow language comes mainly from Minecraft. That's not effort.
And for Terraria, it's just a 2D minecraft with no added value. No depth, no real gameplay mechanics, and ugly pixel art.

They are unique if you want, but that's not because of quality nor effort

| >>574982 before Notch left and it was bought by Microsoft they would even contact modders to add content to the game, with all limitations Java has at making a 3D game, they were able to add many things and many bugs are fixed with each update, plus a lot of optimization in the code, and now we have Bedrock Edition, a superior code with no flaws and rare non-breaking bugs, they are mainting Java because still A LOT of people use it.

| >>574982 About Terraria, you didn't even cared to check a trailer if you say its just a Minecraft 2D game. Magic, armors, weapons, traps, enemies, bosses... NONE of that is found in MC... Terraria is not a survival game, it focuses on combat and there are even classes like summoner, ranger, tank...
Both games started to be developed more or less at the same time, but from the start they were already different.

| >>574992 The thing is that 3D isn't limited by java but by shitty coding. And considering the high price for such a limited content, they *should* have done better than that.

As for Terraria, I'll tell you that minecraft has armors, weapons, traps, enemies, bosses, and even a decent electrical system (unlike Terraria). I'll give you that Terraria isn't focused on survival, but minecraft isn't either, both are focused on sandbox with a different (and too simple) approach.

| Terraria is a pretty good game, it's a sandbox game with actual progression is how I think I would describe it.

Lots of bosses, more metals than most sandbox games to progress up, NPCs to sell garbage to, a portal gun, a sword that throws rainbow cats, and a bunch of armor with different set effects

| >>575180
^ this

| Whoever say terraria is just 2d of minecraft obviously has never played both game that much.

| >>575249 And whoever says they are so different has obviously never played any decent game.

| >>575300 and whoever disagrees with me is wrong but I won't state my opinion until I find an excuse to put someone under scrutiny

| >>575300 I guess you didn't even play Tetris lol

| >>575316
Wild

| >>575300 the only thing similar is that you need supplies and you mine for resources really, saying they're basically the same is inaccurate, they are in the same genre, and share many fundamentals

| >>575367
At some point they have the same game feel, even though they're very different.
And not only in late game, a lot of times they just give the same vibe.
I think...

| >>575386 It's kind of true, if you enjoy one game you probably will enjoy the other, because both games let you do whatever you want in the way and the order you want with a certain limit of progression, whenever you start a new game it will be totally different to your last playthrough, I think that shared vibe is in there.
(Still lot of Mc players hate Terraria for being hard or too big, I think in Steam more than 50% of players haven't even beat the Wall of Flesh)

| Tbh i think Terraria should cost more on PC. Its a big Game with intense amounts of content. It has way more to give than Minecraft, yet Terraria costs way less. Especially with all the Discounts. One might even say that Minecraft would need Mods to get on a content Level Like Terraria and even then, terraria has its own Mod Community with many gigantic mods which quadruple the content. Yet, Minecraft and Terraria shouldnt bei compared. Terraria isnt 2D Minecraft Just because of

| >>575432 what? I understand not liking it because it's harder
But not liking it because it is too big? That's weird af, I love insanely huge games because they stop me from buying more games for a good while

| (2) ..Pixel graphics and Blocks. If you want better graphics then thats your Job. Theres plenty of Texture Packs for Minecraft and terraria is slowly but surely getting some aswell.
(And Just for the record, Terraria has an electrical System that you unlock in the Dungeon)

| >>575444 agreed, Terraria is not Minecraft 2D
Minecraft is Terraria 3D in beta testing phase

| .. which is Not really far into the Game, so someone here barely played

| >>575450
I remember wiring teleporters across the map...

| Yeah Theres mods to fix shortcomings Like that.theres a Wireless mod which is a huge time saver.
I really recommend trying Out mods in terraria, even If its Just for quality of Life stuff. Its Not hard to do and makes gameplay more enjoyable and refreshing

| >>575615 Oh yeah, mods that are allowed by a shitty makeshift API from the stupid community deciding to support only the steam builds, simply because Terraria's devs were too lazy to add a real modding API even after years.

| Reverse engineer it and find the hooks for the other versions

| >>575620 calm down. Modding is usually external and while Other Games Like starbound implement it, Terraria started in another time where modding was barely a thing. Re-Logic itself focuses on creating content and working on possible Other Projects. And since they are a small Team they dont have too much time on their hands. Console and mobile Versions were developed by other companies with Management from Re-Logic so thats a bit different.

| Terraria terraria terraria terrariat terrarift terraraft terrcraft terecraft tenecraft tinecraft MINECRAFT

| Yeah... Remember how you said that you wanted people to just let it die? It's got a new version coming out soon.
