With Octopath Traveler PC not coming out for another month and a bit, I've been feeling a need to play something similar, but I'm mostly able play on my DSi now, since I'm out of the house a lot for this month. So, any interesting JRPGs other than the obvious series like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Etrian Odyssey or Shin Megami Tensei? I've also played Radiant Historia already and loved it to bits.

>>6b556d Kinda forgot about TWEWY, I don't really dig the aesthetic and the combat just kills my hands (and probably the DS screen, too). Ghost Trick is amazing, though, however I played it already.

>>555647 I assume you mean Suikoden Tierkreis? It's okay, but it has horrendous voice acting. Everyone sounds like they did coke and a dozen cans of Red Bull. The undub version is more palpable, imho.

Fucking love Radiant Historia. There's also that one Pokemon game that played like FFT and was set during shoguns and samurais. Forgot the name

The Castlevania games were super on point during the DS era. Try any or all of them.
4 heroes of light is pretty fun. Not the best, but neat and interesting.
The Dark Spire is one of my favorite first person dungeon crawlers ever IT'S SO GOOD.
The SaGa 2 remake is really fun if you know how to apply the translation patch, and can figure out the weird mechanics. It's just has a really over the top power curve and I love it.

Well, it's not really a "hidden gem", but Earthbound.
I remember seeing some cool looking first-person JRPG for DS but I can't remember the name of it.

Devil Survivor is a really overlooked SMT spinoff IMO.

>>555629>>556267 I second Devil Survivor, and it's sequel. Though both games have expanded versions on the 3DS as well.

Avalon Code blew my mind when it first came out. You have a magical book that you can record and alter the world. Like, record the stats of a monster, and then add the property "sick" to it, the monster will be weaker every time you encounter it in the overworld
