That's pretty much how anime vs visual novels goes most of the time. Unless it's a kinetic(linear) VN, you'll have a bunch of different routes to read through.
| With anime vs manga, it could swing either way depending on how close the anime is to the manga. But anime vs VN? I don't think there's any contest not only because the routes, but also it's almost impossible to stay as close to the VN as opposed to how close you can get to manga.
