Love this game. And at one moment even recommended it to some of my friends, some could finish it and... anothers not. The principal reason for that last was (in his words) 'the lack of a climax'. I'm Pretty sure Va-11 Hall-A isn't a game for everyone, but think they have a good point right there. I finished the game because i like this kind of things, but there's nothing really 'catchy' in the plot that makes you stay until the end. Anyway, what do you think about it g/u/rls?

While I liked the game, I agree with him. The main plot was the game's weak point, if anything. I played it more for the atmosphere than the story.

Played it twice, and planning to play along someone someday.
The characters are what make me come back. Their purpose in the narrative, what they are references of, the way they grow, and how they react to what other characters do.
The game was made with that in mind. They wanted to explore characters.

I take VA-11 Hall-A as a game about the journey, not the end. It's always been about the everyday lives of these randos who walk into the door, and your relationships with them.
The game ends because that's convenient place to end, from Jill's perspective, is all.
I kinda wish they push a bit to when the bar closes down, though. That would make a more fitting end I think

I like the game, but I definitely wanted and expected more from it. It felt short.

>>490253 I think the game is long enough for what it is but I would like a way to explore the setting more. You only get to learn about it through the smartphone apps and the things the characters say, never actually see it, which I would really enjoy.

>>490300 I like the way it is. The events themselves are not the focus, but their consequences.
You hear rumors about something big coming, and when the bank incident happens, Sei is trapped and Stella has no idea what to do.
You are just a bartender. You can't go to the bank and solve the problem. Since there is nothing you can do there, there is no point in going to the bank.
Instead, you are the one that has to deal with the aftermath of those events.

>>490300 For example, it is implied that Kim tried to commit suicide at the start of the game, and that Dana saved her. But Dana didn't solve anything, she just gave her a second chance. If you weren't there to calm her down and talk about your work and life, there was nothing stoping her from trying to kill herself again. The same with every client that enters through that door.
You are there to mix drinks and change lives, the lives of those affected by those problems.

>>490300 ROM 2064 and Snatcher already focus on exploring cyberpunk cities.
ROM 2064 takes place in the same universe as VA-11 Hall-A, the only big difference is that instead of Lilims, there are ROMs, and it takes place in Neo-San Francisco.
