I don't know if you would consider it cheap but Ruiner is on sale and it is a really good game

Don't buy on steam and stop killing the video game industry, thanks.

>>477510 There are 100millions of users in steam and is an easy way to gain popularity(and sales I guess) when you make good games and there are a lot of games that are steam released only, how can I play those games if I don't use steam? Also most games are sold to publishers anyway and publisher earn money through steam, games developers already gained a lot of money.
Post number #477610, ID: 036bbf

>>477510 provide other places that sell games with regional pricing and not needing credit card to buy games
Post number #477631, ID: 76e956

>>477540 Did I say it was bad for popularity? Nope. I said it was killing the video game industry, talking about a long-term view here. It's time to stop this before it's too late. And game devs never get "a lot of money".
>>477610 Regional pricing, you mean steam's " 1£=1$=1€" policy? And explain how you don't need a credit card? In any way, GoG provides that and is way better than steam. Itch.io might too.

>>477631 no, I don't live in NA/EU. Giftcards.

>>477631 Game programmer salaries start around USD $44,000 annually for entry-level engineering positions. But they can grow to well over $120,000.I don't know my dude but that is a lot for me at least(relatively). And gaining popularity(if you are an indie developer) then company will start searching for you.Look at Team Cherry, a team of three because of successful of Hollow Knight(damn awesome game btw),Skybound games reach for them(though not thoroughly).

>>477683 The salary itself isn't enough. Programmers are basically expected to work nonstop and not to complain, because they can be replaced easily. "What about competent ones?" You might say, and I'll answer it changes nothing. Big companies don't care about replacing a competent guy by an intern, and small ones will need this amount of work to survive. Steam oversaturated the industry by encouraging shitty games, which led to this.

If you have a shitty laptop, I'd recommend getting Enter the Gungeon. It's a great game to play when you have an extra half hour.

>>477782 I just say game dev earn quite a sum of money,I am not going to talk about working conditions here.I still can't see the relations between steam and working conditions, anyway steam is just a platform for people selling games,if the games are shitty no one will buy it anyway. But we can see the difference between a good game among shitty games, look at LISA,look kinda like some stupid game right?Nope, great game for many.It encourage competition from the others.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is what I'm gonna be getting. Check it out OP its half off

>>477510 What? Why? How? What's wrong? Regional pricing is there for the lesser currencies.
Post number #477999, ID: b0b5dc

>>477893 Steam encourages shitty games. If you look at steam's main page, most games you'll see are pure shit. This behaviour creates a saturation because many people will start making shitty games. And competition is a bad thing. Would you want competition is music or paintings? No, that would make those shitty. Well that's what makes video games shitty.
Post number #478351, ID: ada80c

>>477999 Look at my steam frontpage for a while. First see the words 'FILTERED BASED ON YOUR PREFERENCES',Danganronpa,The Witcher,Yakuza 0,warhammer,civilization all are great games.Maybe you play too much shitty games so shitty games show up on you frontpage? Also there are always comparisons and competitions between genre(no matter music, art or games)or else there will be no awards, competition strive the developers do their best at optimization, graphic, soundtracks to stand out.
Post number #478562, ID: 2c5035

>>477999 oh noes, the store is filled with shitty games, time to burn down the whole store.
Yes, it is shitty that steam doesn't really curate their products, but it doesn't mean steam is "killing the industey" either.
Why would you buy a game from an unknown dev with no review anyways? Even if you do so, you can just refund it before 2 hours of gameplay. Can you not tell that a game is unity asset flipping low effort by the first 15 mins?
Post number #478759, ID: 2c5035

The front page is tailored according to the games you play, even the "new release" is changed to "popular new release" to filter out those garbage games that just came out.
And if your suggestion lists still show shitty Anime Tiddies VN no 3325, you can just not buy them... not want to be triggered by seeing them? Click the ignore button. Better yet, go to preferences and exclude some tags like "anime" and "early access"

>>477999 ?????? In what universe do you live where competition is bad? Are you a millionaire trying to get a monopoly?

at this point i will pirate a game if i want to play it but its steam only. i generally pay for games i play.

My, people are so eager to defend their point of view that they don't even try to understand. Yeah, I shouldn't have said "front page" (even though the recommendations are completely drunk when you have many games), but "top selling games". Happy now?
>>479201 If you don't see the problem, you're part of it. Competition in a game is what kills the game. Competition might be used in ecomomy, not in art and games. But I don't expect you to understand.

>>479236 I'll ask similar question with the other gurl, in what universe do you live in where shitty asset flip/anime tits games can outsell AAA games like monster hunter, witcher, and civ to the point that they are futured in the "top selling games" section?

>>479236 "i don't expect you to understand" dude you're posting on a weeb bored for a niche visual novel stop sucking your own dick and acting like you're the authority on art lmao
>>477492 If you like jrpgs try the Trails in the Sky games, they usually go on sale during these things
