| the part everyone missed about ddlc is that it is a critique on monogamy culture. everyone in the club has been brainwashed by western christian "morals and values", to believe they can only share their love with one other person. this results in jealousy, causing everyone to kill each other and themselves (despite all of them obviously being gay for each other as well as mc), when the club could instead graduate into a beautiful mostly lesbian sligbtly bisexual polycule

But I guess the game forced you to choose one of 'em to further emphasize Monika's desperate position: that the game didn't have an option for the player to actually choose Monika, so she felt trapped and then built that option.
It gave the situation more "stakes" perhaps
| I think love is messed up for that definitely! Like if I make a new friend my other friends can benefit, if I make food my friends can enjoy it with me, if I do a hobby I can do it or talk about it with my friends, if I have a job everyone in society benefits, but with sex and romance everyone else has to be deprived potential partners and suffer jealousy? Why this one field has to be a negative sum game???
