Got any DS recommendations?

| Been playing the Chibi Robo translation and I know there’s some other neat games that have flown under my radar. Please leave your recommendations. I have a modded 3DS XL so fan translations and romhacks are more than welcome :3

| The World Ends With You... it's been ported to a few other consoles, but the only true way to play it is with the DS

| ds nuts

| >>1056194 I have a copy of that. Played it for a few hours when I got it but probably should put more time into it.

| elona

| >>1056201 I have Elin on my computer. Is Elona much different?

| Etrian Odyssey

| If you like story-heavy detective games, check out Hotel Dusk and Last Window. I don't think they were ever ported anywhere else.

Also seconded Etrian Odyssey if you like dungeon-crawlers. It's better to play on the DS/3DS since you get to draw the map yourself on the second screen.

| the Zero Escape series is simply amazing in terms of writing. I highly recommend it. First game is best played on DS/3DS

Fantasy Life is one of my favorite 3DS games. It scratches the same itch as grinding in a mmorpg but it's more satisfying and overall less time-consuming. (A sequel is coming out on pc and consoles pretty soon but I have some doubts about it)

As for games that might have flown under your radar, Stella Glow is a tactical rpg that's quite obscure but pretty cool.

| Also, the Alliance Alive. That game went unnoticed on 3DS and on every platform it was ported to

if you want more chill VNs/adventure games on the DS, Hotel Dusk and it's squeal last window are good.
After the studio who made it shut down,There was an attempt at a spiritual successor to it on the 3ds called Case Cold. It never went anywhere though, so it's more like a prologue to something that never was.
If you like etrian odessy, the 7th dragon sieres is is in similar vein. One of them got localized on the 3ds while the first game has a fan-translation on the DS.

| >>1056264 Been meaning to play Hotel Dusk for awhile. Got it set up and all, just haven’t put much time into it.

The DS seems like such a good platform for VNs, surprised there aren’t more :/

| Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is a personal favorite of mine!

| Fire Emblem: Awakening enjoying it a lot so far took a break though to play other shit but the game play and strategy is fun

I mean it probably does, but the Ds came out in an era where Jp publishers and devs prolly assumed that le western counties wouldn't be into them. Ik there was a big market in JP for vns on the psp so I doubt Nintendo wasn't going try and take a piece of that.

I wrote a very barebone prototype VN "engine" for the Ds homebrew scene back in the day. The goal was to add interaction with the stylus but it turned out to be too complicated of a project for young me so I shelved it.
