I'm mad I missed the Stone Ocean thread cause I've been playing it the last week or so and it's such a sick game!! From a dev perspective it's just really fucking impressive, but also that combat?? The changed and stylised free assets making for genuinely cool aesthetics?? The most active and involved dev I've ever seen?? Really fun and engaging writing??
This game goes so hard and I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's hopped on it

>>1014967 No worries gurl, I'll likely play this game because of these threads. I don't know when and it won't be now but I'll make a thread when I do

>>1015092 That one, yeah!! There's no new one, but this game has been playable and getting regular updates since before 2020 too, it got a pretty chunky "Year 9" update just yesterday actually Not a new game but has been getting a surge similar to what happened with Fear & Hunger (small dedicated community for ages, YouTuber finds and covers it, people start talking, etc)

The more I play this game the less I feel like I've played much at all I entered a cleared out a dungeon I found, but under the dungeon was a 5x bigger dungeon, and also a door leading to an even bigger high level dungeon, and there's still several paths there I haven't found, and this is just some random shit I stumbled across on a tiny portion of the map I've played this game for longer than it takes to complete some other JRPGs but I feel I've seen less than 5% of it

Usually that would honestly be a complaint for me, I generally prefer games that are short and focused, but this game is so engaging and has a constant sense of both progression and genuine challenge For transparency I am playing on hard, maybe it's easy to get over leveled on normal, but tbh I don't think so This game feels ridiculously well balanced for being so big and essentially fully open (without doing that shitty "all enemies scale with you" gimmick some games do)

Looks like a cool game. I think I'll add it to my list.

The fact this game has a whole town management thing that can drastically change the game and you can wage, like, wars and shit is fucking ridiculous lmao You can get Yakuza levels of side tracked in this shit

Just ranting cause this whole prohect is so interesting to me The community now has a Discord and are already at work with looking through the code and noting down the invisible numbers and are starting plans for a proper wiki and making programs to make that process easier and stuff It's really cool to see such a chill and dedicated community getting together and getting new members and see the dev so excited to help everyone and dropping patches damn near every day now

The game has already sold more than it has in its entire 9 years (including the early access) on Steam, and it's got more active players rn than some active multiplayer games Still very niche and all that ofc, but it's cool that all it needed was a video from a relatively obscure YouTuber to get some eyes on it and after that the game just spoke for itself Usually when I recommend games nobody cares, but this one there's been nobody who hasn't shown interest in it That says a lot
