you know, this is one thing that i can be sympathetic about. i'm sorry for your loss, g/u/rl. the path forward is not going to be easy, and fwiw this shitstain won't mind if you vent as much as you need but what you really need to do when you have the energy to do is to create a memorial for your cat print all the photos of him you took on your phone(s), put that in a physical album, have a memorial ceremony or a burial if they let you keep his body

the fact that it happened is one thing, a book end moment that your mind can latch onto and start recovering after is another. good luck and godspeed.

hugs n kisses a cat becoming that old is proof of how loved he was saying goodbye is never easy and you were there for him, held him in his last moments, I can't express how much that means. I never met a person who didn't cry when their pet passed away and if such a person exists I don't want to meet them. Hope you can be comfy this January, cry it all out, drink hot coco. the tears never truly stop but the time between them will grow longer.

>>993420 and move his things now, don't throw them away per se but move them a bit to the side if it helps... seeing the empty bowl each day made it worse for me so I made a little 'shrine' (is probably the best word) out of it on a shelf instead.

My beautiful golden retriever passed away around this time last year. Honestly hit harder than many of the human losses I've had in my life, especially since she'd been around since I was in first grade. I'm not really religious, but I hope we'll see them on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
