How the fuck do people make internet friends

Most people have by now realized that internet relationships are the preserve of the mentally ill. They will keep their guard up unless they know the person IRL.
Seeking the company of those who still seek internet-only friendships is self harm.

Internet buddies are easy to find and has been one of my primary ways to find someone to play with whrn im bored and none of my other friends are available.
Just dont play competitive trash since you can find only subhumans there.
Most of my friendships (some of which are already more than 5-6 years with people that i play almost daily with) are from shit like Gmod, Pavlov, VR Chat, Project Reality, Arma, even have one from a 3ds mp server.

second, find a game or topic you like
third, engage in a community on that topic repeatedly
fourth, through engagement, find those in that community who also engage with you
fifth, expand engagement to other socially acceptable topics. If you find that you enjoy this engagement, congratulations! You have made a friend on the internet. If you do not enjoy these interactions, return to step fourth and attempt a second time
