I can't be alone in suburbs just feeling so off and alienating. As a kid I grew up in the suburbs, but it's never felt comfortable. Now that I'm a broke adult I don't anymore, but low-key I feel more at home in these broke ass apartments than I ever did in the suburbs Even just going to a store and seeing a lot of visibly middle or upper class people there makes me so fucking uncomfortable. Those areas and people just creep me tf out

>>969680 I hate poverty tf?? Do you think I enjoy struggling financially?? I fucking don't. It sucks The people around here are way nicer though. Way more chill and not judgy and shit. The people I grew up around always acted so weird and would tear into everyone for every little thing they did So many of the more wealthy people here are just, like, toxic. They can't stand people being slightly different to themselves. Idk why but that's the case for, like, 90% of them I've met

That goes for me too btw, I was a fucking asshole growing up
>>969707 That's fine lol, I assume this isn't a common thing
>>969697 No idea. There's a lot of, like, posing. A lot of them are in massive debt too I've found out, but they pretend like they're not cause they wanna hold onto that lifestyle or something

>>969718 It's the exact same where I come from and it feels like it's only gotten worse.
I enjoyed growing up in the suburbs though. Probably because it was a really nice place to live.

Houses in suburbia have been growing larger and larger while the amount of friends per person has been going down. It’s totally valid to feel isolated in the burbs.

Ever live in an actual slum, or a ghetto? And not just a lower-class suburb? Because I'm living in one. You don't have to "enjoy" living in a suburb, you just have to remember that the alternative is way worse for most people.
>>969820 That's funny, houses are actually getting smaller and smaller here. We probably live in very different places in the world, though.

>>969781 Valid. I didn't have a particularly good household, so that definitely influence feeling weird growing up too
>>969833 Luckily no. Place a live only got suburbs and the downtown apartments, no real ghetto so I dodged that. I'm very well aware of my privilege and the fact the slums are hellish. Got friends in actual slums and that shit is horrific. I ain't tryna glorify poverty in any way at all, just ranting about the toxic and isolating suburb culture
