Like title says, any advice, tricks or tips would be appreciated. I'm interested in giving it a chance while also leaving the states for at least a bit. Really need this as a huge refresh button and honestly been interested since back then but just now do I feel like I truly have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

u wouldnt be worrying about acceptance if you knew what ur doing, i suggest actually learning proper japanese (not that of a 5yr old) first instead of being another self centered american pest on foreign societies. or otherwise idk just go there on a trip like normal people?

I got to study basic japanese through classes but not being surrounded by it makes it a bit more difficult to actually practice the language, another reason why interested in having to actually apply what was taught

u can "apply" urself with other people online, and if u can't then japan will be no different. also reading genki and knowing how to introduce urself and say what u ate isnt basic japanese. u dont move to japan to learn japanese bro, u got it all backwards. there are many immigrants like u in the uk saying they came here to learn english and meanwhile can barely speak or understand anything and only hang out with other immigrants who speak their langauges. dont be one of those
