I like Duolingo for building vocabulary, and YouTube for grammar structures or for listening to native level stuff, whether it's content creators or news outlets. Also the military has a site that's accessible to all called GLOSS, that is pretty nice if you want a structured practice session focusing on a specific topic, but the topics are niche so if you lack the vocab in that area it's not very fun.

>>953082 hmmm i dont find duolingo any nicer to use... What youtube? What gloss? Link me please? I know youtube but theyre usually rather... slideshowy

>>953083 to be honest i don't use Duolingo much anymore because i reached an intermediate level in my target languages, so I feel you on that.

Here is the link to gloss. As for YouTube it depends on what language you're learning, you'll have to dig around and find a few channels you enjoy. Like, if there's a Grammar point that's confusing me I'll watch 3-5 different videos from different channels all explaining it.

>>953085 wow. Thanks alot. I ll check glosss.
Anything i can help you in return? I run illustrations here https://ko-fi.com/lazycst
>grammar point Well that seems kind of advanced of an issue. I am just trying to have average human being vocabulary currently.
What channel do you like if you dont mind.

>>953086 what language are you learning? It depends on the language you are learning since many of these channels are only ran by one person and only focus on one language. But some companies cover many different languages.
Here are 2 companies you can check out, they typically have YouTube channels ran by them as well. Their free stuff should be more than enough

>>953088 o yeaaa. I know these. Didnt know they have podcast. Thanks
Gloss feels abit like military acred instead.
>more than enough Well... i probably need to ask more, if you dont mind?
I am learning several ones popular with business and healthcare... i guess. Also whatever easyier maybe.

From my many false starts before finally making some progress at self-studying a language (Japanese), the best combination of resources I’ve come to is: Anki for memorizing vocab, a good bilingual dictionary for looking up words, a grammar textbook of some sort to give you a framework, and immersion (i.e. media in the target language like TV shows) to provide a source of vocab.
I think If you find these four things for any given language, you’ll be set for learning it.

>>953114 ...i guess. Maybe i should focus on jp first with that many things compared to anything else. Though... how do you focus again?

>>953115 I’m actually not very good at staying focused on studying for a long period, I think determination and being willing to keep coming back whenever you drop it for a while is more important.
Also I should note that those resources I listed aren’t only for JP (tho JP does have a *lot* of resources), they’ll exist for any lang you study

HelloTalk is useful for making friends in your target language and being able to have native interactions

>>953190>>953244 noted. But if possible i want a whole drop down list of words like http://www.mieliestronk.com/wordlist.html Like japanese kanji and its kana and then hanguls and so on.

>>953297 i can't speak for Japanese because i haven't really buckled down and studied it, but I think there may be some apps that have simple lists built in along with the flashcards/learning games. But i truly have no idea. App reviews might mention if one has anything like that

>>953316 i understand. I just need to pass N2 for most business i guess. I also am not young anymore. Nearing retirement. Whats my best bet.

>>953373 don't count yourself out due to age, I've got guys who are a couple years from retirement who are learning Chinese from basically scratch. You got this. So N2 is your goal, and from what I understand there's no speaking element or writing, just multiple choice? That's gonna work in our favor if we're just trying to get you a qualification for now. Can I ask what level you're at right now?

>>953466>speaking element Guess so. You said it but i have not seen all of it. Well the goal is actually being good enough at it just so i can find confidence to drive in life so maybe i am overshooting myself. What do i do?
Post number #953533, ID: beb0e6
|
>>953514 I don't think you're overshooting at all. Some key points I've had to learn are: This is gonna be a multi year journey, consistency trumps intensity, and focusing too much on what methods/materials are optimal can cause long pauses in your journey. Sometimes just gunning it is the best way, after you've compiled some sites or things to practice with. Be it game apps, YouTube videos, or good ol fashioned textbooks. Starting and keeping on is gonna make the main difference.
