Duolingo - JP/EN/DE

| Today i started to use this app for learning japanese for first time, so yes, i can order water, sushi, rice.. very useful xd
also i use it together with english and german.. but i have mixed feelings from heart system, xp farming and so.. i also feel that streak system can be depressing..

how about you? what is your opinion? or are you using something else?

| you will never learn japanese
you don't even know english

| I'm learning German on Duo and I'm really enjoying it so far. My streak has been going on since Jan 4.

| >>949757 You'll never be German.

| >>949762 because i just learned vocabulary but totally ignored spelling and grammar.. fun fact, japanese and german are simplier spelling (my native have it similar)
>>949764 ohh it is really nice ^^
>>949766 probably i won't, because my closest relation was grandgrandpa, but since whole my family can talk german, my surname is german af, and because of one person what i like, and often visiting of germany i would want to learn it.

I don't like them too so I just try not to perceive them.

| enjoy having unbroken legs while you can!

| quote from 4chan : "Using duolingo/paying for courses is for people who are never going to make it."

| for some that shit works, others not. who cares.

| It will not work to really learn, but it can be a good start, similar as taking a course, or reading a grammar book. You can't aim to be fluent directly.

Learning seriously Japanese is really intensive thou. Going to pass N3 this July and well wow.

2 years of japanese in secondary classes get you at a good N5 level, but you can actually rush it from 0 in a week. But getting the strong basis before rushing vocab like a robot will get you far, and N5 has no real value anyway.

| and yes I'm a big anki user

| >>949780 in europe is more than enough
>>949809 heeh xd i have them both for now
>>949881 who knows, i take it as experiment, i use duolingo free. but i found in somehow interesting.
>>950026 i did notice that over that it's teaching something, in english input (and in japanese sometimes too) it's require totally opposite reply.. as for example greetings at begin of sentence instead at end.. "konnichiwa naomi" is considered as right answer instead "naomi konnichiwa"

| i feel happy because of way teaching vocabulary, and "learn anytime for few minutes" format, but mixed feelings from things like this.. i will probably look around if exists other, better ways.. but gamification helps me to get my attention.. i did get in top 4 already xdd

| duolingo is not bad when pairing it with notetaking and writing. Otherwise I forgot all of it

| >>950176
sounds like a midwit problem if i've ever heard one. i don't think anyone else forgets their duolingo lessons this fast.

| is it really that good to memorise in the long term ?

| >>950197
yes

| I have a 184 day streak on duolingo (spanish) I think my usage of nicotine while using duolingo has kept me learning

| Mi perro y gato gana mucho dinero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| >>949771 >>949881 >>950026

The streak system is in place because duolingo is meant to brute force your knowledge of the language. Its kind of like when a baby is exposed to words until it figures out how to use them. Duolingo is far from an actual course though.

| but it still seems to be just for beginners
