this might be kind of a doomer thread but I wondered how other g/u/rls felt about how most of us are probably gonna live to see the end of the world (or at least human life) in like 10-20 years from now.

Nah, humanity will continue its miserable existence for a couple of thousands of years.

The end of humanity? Doubt. The end of the world? Huhu.

I know there are a lot of people that thinks like OP, but I kinda want to see a good future of humanity, where we finally can become inmortal. Oh! But there's also a side of me, that just wants society to collapse and we go wild and apocalyptic, maybe that's why I love post-apocalyptic and zombies settings/scenarios.
I'm not gonna lie, the idea has its unique charm.

>>797472 Same. The world culture is every day becoming more braced for everything to fall apart, when by most metrics things are getting better. You have to wonder how much mass media is contributing to this apocalyptic hysteria, and how much is the natural human desire for destruction, and how much is the increasingly fast rate of progress being made. Regardless, the kids of today are inheriting a world very different from their parents and grandparents.

I don't think we'll live to see the end of the world. Maybe we'll observe another catastrophic point-of-no-return marker like mass extinction of ocean flora or the median temperature skyrocketing or nuclear proliferation--but overall I'm pretty sure we've got more than just a few decades to go.

>>797734 Yeah, we are NOT lucky enough to experience nuclear war. At least we'll get to reenact the dolphin scene from Sora no Woto to any of the children unlucky enough to get born in the next decade.

We'll probably live to see the start of the climate crisis. But beyond that everything is accounted for. Even the great caliphate is doin diplomacy with chinese uygur killers.

I just try to think of the good parts of it. Even if it's the end of the world, it's still the only point in human history I could've possibly been born into where I have an inexhaustible, free, instantly accessible library of incredible art to watch/read/listen to and make friends worldwide and even see the corners of the world myself. It's like the definition of being here for a good time not a long time. I doubt I'd choose any other time period to live in even if it ends in 2040

>>798152 > We'll probably live to see the start of the climate crisis.
We're already in the midst of the climate crisis. It has already started and will slowly get worse over time.
You may live long enough to be the one filming instead of the one watching other peoples clips though.

>caring about the climate crisis Y'all never done no history. It was the cold war before this, the red scare before that, and I don't care to remember what the boogeymen of the 19th century were. People out there got business in keeping you anxious and subdued. Drink and be merry. Fuck on 'em and enjoyee your lifetime.

Hey gurls, time hopper here!
You have 4-12 years left of normalcy. Then, well, things will break Antarctica is already becoming greener. The polar vortex this year is one of nature's allergic reflexes. We've gone through 20,000 years of climate change in a decade The ocean algae will suddenly pump out a ton of oxygen, causing lots of crop dieoff. Then, the crust will slightly weaken, causing one of the supervolcanoes to erupt. The atmosphere will burn.
I'm here to record the end.

This is the same stuff people said in the 90s, 2000s and 2010s. It was far off back then. I doubt it's any more accurate now.

Honestly, I'm kind of almost excited for the end of the world. That means a chance something newer, better can start.
