I'm German and I speak English pretty fluently for while now. I wanna learn to speak some more languages for no particular reason, just because I think, it's cool.
What language would you recommend to me? I've started learning Japanese for a bit, but maybe I should start with something more easy.

>>777757 Honestly, Japanese is probably a good choice. It looks and sounds really nice, there's lots of resources available online, and there's enough interesting media in the language to keep you going. Don't take the claims of its difficulty too seriously, either -- it has a pretty steep initial learning curve, but once you have the basics of the grammar down and know a few hundred kanji, it's really not that bad.

Learn Hungarian. It's the most efficient way to start hating yourself or cultivate your self-hatred.

I learned Chinese but I don't really recommend it. It's a beautiful language and I love speaking and listening to it but like compared to Japanese there's not a lot of good media to enjoy.

Here to support the Spanish option. I'm a Spanish native speaker as well and even though it can be a pretty difficult language to learn, it is really beautiful.

If you want less pain, something latin-based or germanic-based should be pretty easy to get into. Dutch, Spanish, maybe something like Swedish if you want something less common.
If you're just learning for fun and not being serious about it, I don't suggest Japanese or Chinese, but like, go for it if there's media in it you're interested in.
