I was thinking earlier about writing something vaguely inflammatory because I felt like doing anything else would be showing that I was encouraging people who use 4chan to continue using this website. And also that a certain user of 4chan both made this thread and some others that made me angry and unhappy. But, on further thought, I realized doing that would make that person angry and unhappy, and make the situation worse. So, uh, sorry, for something I didn't end up doing...

why did I write that?

I think that more than just being the nerd stereotype it's also because there's a specific stereotype or image related to 4chan users specifically. And I think that's partially because a lot of the rest of the internet feels like they're on bad terms with 4chan for various reasons and wants to be malicious like I did earlier. But also, the "neckbeard nest" is something that's becoming more commonly displayed with regards to depression and such so it's also an image that's changing.

I'm kind of an "in-your-face" faggot. But when I read these kinds of attitude it's placating and calms me down.

I learned a lot of stuff in 4chan and really don't get the hate against it. Of course I had to filter the fuck out of ~le kek buzzwords~ and general attacks against posters for no reason, but really, I learned a shit ton of things about other things there.

>>739492 I'm glad to hear that. I don't think that I would say I'm a better g/u/rl than anyone here though because the things that make a g/u/rl good are different for everybody. I really think you could also accurately say I'm a bit annoying and longwinded... But anyways, if you think that it's better to say something like what I did, I encourage you to try.
>>739497 TBH I've never even really tried using 4chan and I don't think most people who dislike 4chan have either.

I'd say the malice probably has to come from interactions with 4chan users on non-4chan websites. Which, I guess I understand, because I have been pretty upset that someone who I assumed was a 4chan user has been trashing /u/ and /d/ for the past couple weeks. That image probably been built up due to a lot of small incidents like that over a long period of time. I guess 4chan being comparatively old also contributes to that, since they've got the longest history to stereotype on.

because the average 4chan users are loud and make it very clear who they are-pseudo nihilistic neckbeards that live in squalor and watch MLP and loli anime.
If you're a 4chan user and that is absolutely not a description of you thats fine but idk why that would surprise you. Itd be like a Parler user asking why the caricature of an average Parler user was decked out in undersized boog gear with a confederate flag. You know why 4chan has its reputation, dont play the fool.

>>739473 "Current year" nerds are portrayed as clean cut, well groomed, and well adhusted to a life of digitization, internet, and endless Marvel movies.
4chan users are not blasted as "nerds" but as maladapted trolls okay with everything save CP and cat gore.

>>740099 And that there is where much of the animosity resides. Not just in the fact that a loud looking minority of users such as that exist, but also because the majority let them run amok by cultivating a culture which feeds into unhealthy states of minds and let them fester. Personally, I consider a sort of online gauntlet: people either leave 4chan with tougher skin and a stronger stomach, or they become a husk as their energy is sapped into the mindless, empty void.

I'm glad I ended up more on /x/ and /a/ then any other board but eventually I got tired of the same meta injokes and constant flux of bad trolls from /pol/
