Why is coming up with a short, memorable and unique-ish nickname so hard?
| Feel like it's easier to get a nickname when you just hang out with your friends. Might not be the most unique way but two heads are better then one, after all it's them who are gonna use it so it'll come naturally.

Yeah well that's exactly what I would like to avoid... Ideally no numbers or special symbols at all, and something that is readable as a short word. Maybe 2 words together at most, that can be shortened for ease of addressing. So that's what hard about that. It's also difficult for me to come up with names for my pokemon, or characters in vidya or tabletop. Maybe that's related somehow.

You just need to think outside the box and not be scared of being cringe.
For example, I usually make character names that are very similar to or taken from, like, shows, games or books that I like. Is it very creative? No. But it gets the job done and if anyone notices, then it's just a fun reference.
For usernames, I usually go for an ironic joke name or just use my real name.
Like, my name was NoScopeBoy83 for a while just because it sounds retarded, and it worked.

| Try this: start with your first name and something unique you like. Try to be specific and general at the same time. Then shorten different aspects of the name and remove anything redundant. Repeat until it becomes abstract enough and you are happy with the result. I did that with my nick, and while it's not short it can be easily shortened.
| look around your place or think about stuff you usually see, for example, my nick came from my tired brain shortening November which ended up as Noven, 5 letters, simple to say and you dont really need to explain much cause it doesnt have any particular meaning

That's the problem. Y'all try coming up with "good" names. That ain't a thing. Just make some ironic shit. If it's cringey but it's ironic, then it's funny. If you try to make something good and it's cringey, then that's just cringey.
I have the most childish, cringey names on shit, but since I say "Yeah, it's ironic" people think it's funny. I have a friend who makes childish, cringey names but it's serious, and people think that's cringey.
Best is to just don't care tho.
