First ever vent on the internet

| Greetings g/u/rls, I've never felt the need to vent on the internet before, but currently I find myself quite frustrated with nobody to share in my pain.

For context, I live in a pretty quiet small town. Not a lot happens here and there's no nightlife or anything like that.

But tonight, Jesus Christ, tonight the regular unbroken silence of the night time is just fucking none existent.

| It's currently about half past midnight here in the UK, and I'm trying to get to sleep for work in the morning, but there's some dude riding a motorbike around the neighborhood out there, what sounds like a helicopter or extreme wind, and about every minute and a half something let's out this long deep beeping tone.

| I've heard the tone before, inconsistently at night for a few years and I still have no clue what it is. Lasts about 3-4 seconds each time and it's just this monotone beep that I can hear from any room in my damn house.
My TV doesn't block it out either so I can't avoid it. It's playing hell with my ears and driving me fucking nuts.

| I don't know what I expect to achieve from this thread. It won't stop the beeping, get rid of the midnight biker, or even slow the winds outside. Nobody's response to this thread can fix my issue or assure me any better rest, but I needed to shout my feelings out to somewhere because this shit is driving me crazy my d/u/des.

I hope you all sleep better than me tonight.

| Yeah I remember where I used to live in the UK there'd always be that one person, but then the nightlife there is the polar opposite to wherever you may be.

| But I feel you OP, we all just want a good night's sleep.

| Update: I did manage to sleep that night, woke up late, was late to work, got in trouble for it. Didn't really phase me a great deal because it was all so casually dealt with at work.

Following night I slept like a baby, went off to sleep early and slept in, no work today.

| Glad to know everything is well now! Be sure to stay hydrated and everything will be okay.
We are here for you!

I believe you could report the beep thing to the police.

There are sound testers for this kind of stuff, so even if it is not something they could take action on, it may help locating it.
I know they do this in my country for high pitched ("ultrasonic") noise.

Also, my deepest condolences since I know that feeling.

I live in a block with TV addicted neighbors on each side and below my bedroom, and I swear some day I am going to start drilling the walls at 3am as retaliation or something

| >>5f4547 Y'know it may be worth putting in a noise complaint if I could only figure out where it comes from. I don't know what it is, where exactly it is, or why it happens.
There's plenty of odd noises around here, but that's the only one I hear regularly. Next time I hear it I might try to figure out where it's coming from so I can see about getting rid of it.

| >>5f4547 Oh man that sounds terrible, way worse than my night was. Like somebody else suggested, see about reporting that kinda shit to the property owner/local council/police depending where you are.

Drilling at 3am is off the table my dude, that's gotta stop.
