Not sure where to ask this, so I'll just ask here. I've seen g/u/rls offering to play chess both here and in danger/u/ discord from time to time and I've always wanted to try, but I just suck at it. Do I just need to learn as much theory as possible (i.e. all openings, endgames, most common gambits, etc.) or is this mostly a question of mileage?
TL;DR: how to not suck?

Just play the game. Legit. You don't need theory shit to play it. As long as you know the rules of the game then just keep playing. Eventually you'll start to understand it more and more, especially if you look at what your opponent is doing and stuff. And when you lose? Just play again. The elitists for this game are just all snobby and shit always talking about some move some cunt did back in 1746 or something, which is why people think they need to know theory.

Don't think too hard, head empty, save queen, use knight.
