I thought i was overweight because im developing rolls and i this has been the biggest ive been in my life. But when i checked on the scale, it says i'm normal. I think something is wrong because i genuinely feel unhealthy. Idk what ate your thoughts on BMI?

Not really, no. In fact its fairly inaccurate, insofar as maintaining your health is concerned. What are your personal nutrition/fitness goals?

It only shows if your wheight is average for your size, when its high and you look fat then it is acturate but if you look muscular then its just that you have a more muscular and larger frame in general, if its low then most of the times it means you are either tall or thin.
BMI is only good if you are secure about yourself and know your habits, its the best if you are smart and know what you are doing

Dont use BMI if you are insecure about yourself or have self destructive tendencies and habits in general

I sort of have rolls, but I struggle heavily with eating (probably some undiagnosed eating disorder) and weigh, like, 8kg less than I should. How the body looks works, weirdly, and BMI is only good for certain things, like if you're doing some sort of sports or martial arts. It's sort of irrelevant when it comes to people who don't.

>>712233 if you think you have a disorder than dont even bother to know your BMI just check it with a doctor

BMI is absolute bunk and doesnt factor in for bone density, muscle weight, etc. It's arguably okay as a ballpark but only a tailored lifestyle and diet can suitably meet your needs. I think it'd be worth looking into dietary info and how it squares with what you eat, and also consider whether you've been less active in the time you've gained weight.
Don't beat yourself up over not meeting arbitrary standards tho friend. <3

>>712235 Well, yeah. The reason why I know my weight is unhealthy and that I probably have a disorder is because I've been checked and stuff by a doctor and have talked to therapists about it, but since that usually isn't the main focus during my conversations with them it hasn't been confirmed that I have one or not. I just struggle very badly with eating and I throw up pretty frequently.

>>712243 BMI is not a bunk, its just not good if you dont know the conditions of your own body, when factored with apperance, bone density, muscle density, eating habits and mental state it can be super accurate, is the more scientific method that requires the most info for the best results

>>712259 I like how you were like "uh ackchyually" and then just fully agreed with and bolstered my argument lol
So yeah all that bejng said it certainly isnt super accurate not is it the most scientific method. It is honestly a but outdated and rather vague. Many of our ideas on fitness are.

I mean I'm 6 foot, 225 lbs of mostly bone and muscle weight with a scant padding of fat. According to a BMI chart I'm obese.
Yeah, BMI is bunk.

>>712279 nah you not obese you are above the average wheight in comparison to how tall you are, BMI is very misunderstood
Post number #712281, ID: ca1820

>>712279 its only bunk because you choose it to be but you even explained the process and why it is high for you, the results dont determine if you are obese or not, thats just something that uneducated people belive in, BMI is just a body mass to size ration, nothing more, nothing less it doesnt determine if you are obese, thats just the sensacionalization of the process

>>712282 my fitness goals is basically to just have an active lifestyle. Not over the top super fit life style. But just yknow, being able to do things and not feel like im tired immediately and lethargic in all that i do. It's nothing serious but i do wish i was more active. But starting is so hardd

>>712541 try walking, its fun, stabalizes the metabolism, and is a great way to see the world in onther perspective
Beginning, and then maintaining, is always the difficult part. You need to make regular exercise habitual such that it no longer feels like a chore.
Start small- get MyFitnessPal or a similar app and start tracking your calories, exercise. Even just thirty minutes a day of leisurely, but unbroken, walking is significant. And anytime you think what you're doing is "not helping," always remember, its still more than what you had before.
