Why is /u/ diferente from the vast majority of chans

| Yeah, it's small. It's based on VA-11 Hall-A, which I feel has some pretty good values that automatically weeds some of the trash away.
And I know some people don't like it, but I appreciate that the mods step in and close threads that get too toxic.

Now that you mention it, yeah. There used to be a lot of racist, anti-LGBT, science-denying and trump-shilling here a while ago but it has pretty much died down. These last few months has been extra comfy.

There are several posters in /new/ who have repeatedly voiced pro-racist, pro-fascist and anti-LGBT ideologies and proudly stood by them. They all have very unique typography too so they're not as anonymous as they think. Hello btw!

the claims of toxicity are heavily exaggerated. Anytime a thread gets to the point where its like two or three people samefagging each other the thread tends to be nuked from orbit anyway.

But I'm pretty sure that 95% of the reason is that Danger/u/ is small b/c we can see the same comfy feel in Sushichan even though it's an imageboard.

There have been similar discussions at other times too. Obviously on some boards that kind of thing can't work, but a good culture is something that people have put effort into keeping up and still will need to
