Well, she just barely knows me and I know more than I'm supposed to about her thanks to a common friend. We're in the same area of work but don't really interact.
This common friend told me that he will arrange a board game that will include me and her. She likes this game, and I have like a week to just enough to play but in a way that she can teach me more.
How do I approach it g/u/rl? I'm pretty cool overall, just when I want to ask someone out I'm not

You gotta be cool and confident. Go in with the intent of having fun and see if you can't get some laughs out of her. Ask her out at the end of the night and hope for the best.

Shoot the shit about work while you play. Treat her as your friend, ask questions about the game have her elaborate etc etc.
If it makes it easier, ask her out with something super simple; coffee is always a good go-to. If you work in the same field, you're both bound to like similar things surrounding the field, so take her shopping to some place related to your field (if possible) as a "date".
I believe in you g/u/rl!
