Luck and Natural Talent

| Do you guys think these exist? I know a lot of people like to deny luck and contribute everything to hard work, but I do believe both luck and talent are a thing. Not that they should be used as a crutch though

| Dont necessarily believe in luck. I believe everything happens for a reason and all that but if it's the same wavelength of what you're saying then yeah i believe in both

| Natural talent exists for sure. Though a lot of instances stem from training at a young age. Luck is just a matter of probability. I don't think anyone can really say they were lucky. You have to look at it in context. Lets say someone is born in a rich home. Were they lucky? Not really because someone would by logic be born into a rich family. (If we're going by you're a 'thing' before born.) Same with lots of "lucky" instances. Eventually someone will get a good outcome.

| Luck is a skill

| >>692330 this, and skill is talent plus time. with enough practice, anyone else's natural talent can be outpaced. so luck and talent exist, and they matter, but learning matters more.
what's harder to dismiss is background. like >>692315 said, it's not really luck. people with better access to education and less time required to sustain themselves get more time to get good at things. that's the kind of random chance that leads to big effects.

| >>692330 >>692355
how do i learn luck?

| >>692373
Same way you learn anything; through repeated failure.

| Damn son, if I ain't fucking lucky as shit, then I don't exist. I don't think luck is a skill, but just me saying fuck you to probability. I don't think you should rely on people to tell you if luck or natural talent exist, but instead form your own opinion based on you experiences. If you can't do that then I guess asking what others think is alright, but you should be able to decide for yourself if luck and natural talent exist or not.

| I think natural talent, luck, and hard work are able to get you skill. This is based upon my own experiences with hobbies and skills. I've found that some skills I have an understanding which came through 'natural talent', however some other skills I've had to work hard for, and then theres skills I've gained through luck. If you want to succeed and the skill is not coming naturally, then you should put in effort to gain skill.

| >>692373 Being good with luck is knowing when you can leave things to chance. One example is shooting in CS:GO or Valorant. Oftentimes, you can take a wild shot that will probably not hit. But there are still some which are more likely than others, and if you choose to take the more likely ones, you'll hit more lucky shots. It might be the difference between 100 or 200 hits out of ten thousand, but it's still better...
The other parts of luck are simply showmanship and confidence.

| CS:GO has aim assist and you can land hoys across the map with it.

Usually luck is just someone else taking a hit or providing support without you noticing.

| Luck, no, talent, yes (as an applicable concept)

Or rather I don't believe people can warp reality around them to cause good or bad thibgs to be more or less likely, but I do believe that some people are born with more developed cochlear parts and can more easily pick up on music. Some people have brains that smash patterns and can wreck math. Some people have more rods and cones in their eyes and make better artists.

And me...I take poops and document them daily.

| Oh hey daily poop guy!
I can pretend that I warp reality around me because I'm a time traveller lol

| Well both dont cover for skill
Luck is just a chaotic coincidence that should not be relied uppon
Natural talent is just someone being lucky that they have an small level of skill just by being themselves
In the end both are just shortcuts to actual skill but in the end anyone can learn to do something even if they dont start with an advantage

| Yeah, I do. I mean, luck is sort of a vague concept, but since there is so much in this world that you have no control over I do believe that some good things in your life come from just pure chance, aka luck.

When it comes to natural talent then I sort of believe in it. For example, I understand things like math very, very easily even though I don't work for it, and I can easily get into and understand new topics, though autism is probably a big part of that, which is natural?

| Personally I think it's less about the talent and more about inspiration and wish, maybe combined with potential. As a kid, I could only dream about being an artist, as I had absolutely no talent for it back then. Yet, today I'm more or less capable of drawing some nice things to the point where I'm considering making a living out of it. Inspiration is what kick-started it, will to improve (as well as support from my friends) continued it.
