I just wanna see how my art would improve over time. Maybe if I lived a thousand years I'd be sooo good and fast. Imagine the number of pieces I'd make. I'd be an art historian and maybe even imitate styles of artists who have passed.

But imagine how boring it would get. Everyone you know dies and you outlive them, outliving hundreds of thousands if not millions.
It gets kind of lonely.

>>689796 you forgot to emphasize the part where they also outlive all living hentai artists and their blessed smut

I've been thinking in a same way, but about science. It sucks knowing I'll die this decade and won't be able to see what discoveries humanity will make as the time goes on. On the other hand, life itself sucks so hard that living it forever would be not a miracle, but a curse and pure torture for me. So... yeah, I'm glad I'll die eventually. Still sad that I won't be able to replace my stupid ass hands with biomechanical prosthetics, but glad nevertheless. It's not worth it.

>>689825 same except I'm ok with the suffering of life, besides if it ever gets to much suicide isn't going anywhere so there's always an out

>>689903 So you wish not to age then? Not the whole immortality thing, as it means, well, not being able to die at all.

>>689917 I guess we're arguing definition here but to me immortality is not aging or the *ability* to live forever, and not being able to die would be invincibility
So a vampire might be immortal but not invincible, but everything that is invincible would necessarily be immortal

>>690015 I'm positive "immortal" means literally "who cannot die", regardless of the means.
I'm also positive "invincible" isn't specific on how exactly you can't be beaten. If you trip while walking and you hit your head hard enough to die, well you weren't defeated by anyone... there was no contest or game over which you were involved that you could have been invincible at. Unless you were having a "walking until you die" contest... in that case it's accurate...

>>690083 as I said we're arguing definition
I've seen my definition used more when referring to living things, see all those posts about Hydra or that type of jellyfish being immortal, vampires in media etc
Read it as biological immortality if it bothers you, that's more correct technically but we're already biological so it's not a far leap to use that definition, and imo makes more sense since it's something we could theoretically achieve instead of pure fiction

>>690099 Ok let's just say you chose a different dictionary than mine.
It wouldn't be possible to argue definition if we were using the same dictionary. Since we're not, it doesn't make sense for me to argue over definition.
In such circumstances I can only drop the issue.
