Am I too old to start learning

| I'm almost 20 yo. I know nothing and don't possess any skills. I like many things but because of that I can't really get into anything (also because of procrastination). I want to understand math and programming at near-scholar level, have competent knowledge of art and philosophy, learn japanese and german languages. Am I fucked up because I didn't start at the age of 16? It's disheartening for me to see that most smart ppl started their primary subjects at the very young age.

| No. You are fine, Anakin.

But seriously, it is never too late. Hard science answer, your brains neuroplasticity is still prime for another 5 years, but even beyond that, all you need is the will and the time. As I understand Harvard or Yale have full courseloads online for literal free so people can teach themselves, and there are other resources online as well. I say get involved in a coding community, start reading on whatever era strikes your fancy, and make that brain grow :)

| Bro. Seriously? With that title I expected you to be, like, 40+. Homie. It really ain't too late. You're still young as fuck.

| I am 33 and i am still learning different stuffs that either I'm really interested in or to improve my work related skill. I'm not expecting I will reach anywhere near scholar level anytime soon though but learning new stuffs is fun! It's never too late to learn something.

| Huh, I'm the same age as you, in a kind of similar situation, I guess.

I don't think it's too late for you, there's still that opportunities for you to get that ball rolling again, so to speak.

| Nope.

| uwaaa I expected you to be like 80+ or something
( ´_ゝ`)
I don't think there's a "too late" age for that...

| I laughed out loud when you say you're only 20. You're fine, g/u/rl. Go learn whatever you want to learn.

The internet might makes it look like people became geniuses at 10 years old or something, but that's just rare edge cases. There are people out there who became famous for something they only began doing at their 40s. You're fine.
