stumbling over my own words all the time

| i can plan out a conversation perfectly, i know what i'm gonna say, but as soon as i start speaking either my mind or my mouth starts running faster than the other and i end up jumbling up the words or just freezing entirely. it has started to really get in the way and i don't even want to open my mouth to speak most of the time. what can i do to alleviate that?

| This a recent thing or have you been like this for a while?

Practice talking. Start talking without thinking too much about it. Don't get shy or embarrassed when you do stumble on your words. Just back up and try again.

Don't overthink it. Most of the time, you shouldn't have to plan for what you want to say.

it's been like this for some time now, but i feel like it got worse recently. i don't really talk all that much so that might be the cause. i'm more used to texting where i can go over what i'm typing a couple of times and edit everything to be more or less exactly how i want it. should i maybe practice by just monologuing when no one's around to get more used to it, or will it only make things worse?

| Not sure if monologuing will help. Probably would help you not to get tongue-twisted, but not much for holding proper conversations.

Definitely should get more chances to talk. Do you live alone? Got friends you can call? At least, when texting, try *not* to edit it. Live with mistakes.

still live with my parents, we don't really talk all that much and even then I mostly listen. same with my friends, pretty much. it's a bit easier when we play something together because i can actually focus on the game, but in casual conversations i stumble as well. i guess i could try not to edit whatever i type (other than typos), but it still greatly helps to stop for a few seconds and think about what to type. i could do that while talking, but pauses are awkward

Well not taking those few seconds when typing might help you to just let your words flow when talking. The point is that you shouldn't get into the habit of thinking over everything you say.

Still, you should find some ways to talk more. If you're on okay terms with your parents, you should try to hold more conversations with them.

As a last resort, you can try talking to a cat or a dog or whatever animal is around. Don't monologue to them. Pretend they can answer.

| you need to slow dow

| Same op like I spend a good amount of time once maybe like a year or more not saying more than one or two words then somehow it's like I forgot how to speak and when I do speak now everything is jumbled as if I'm rambling

| Trying to plan out conversations in your head is always gonna fuck things up. I've tried to stop doing that because it's much easier to have a conversation where nothing is planned out.
