So, I was listening to HI podcast and was introduced to the concept of a hotstopper. Apparently it's used to, well, stop the heat from escaping the drink and to prevent spillage. In my part of the world - we don't have these things. There's this little notch that can be used to close your coffee - built into the lid of a disposable cup. Isn't this feature universal?

Sounds like some useless product someone made just so they can get a passing grade in college or something.

In America at least, the large coffee chains use hot stoppers. Smaller places usually have the lid flap.

Huh. Did some research and they seem to be trying to make it a charity thing, which is respectable. Seems like kind of a wasteful and ultimately useless product though.
