Dear god, why is the internet so bad nowadays!

| It feel like every social midia is warzone, and then these plataforms keep banning, shadow banning and censoring people, there is also the massive spread of misinformation, addpocalipses on major sites, wtf is wrong with the internet? When has it become this shitty?, I miss 2008

| Also why are polotics so prevalent? Why is it taking over all plataforms, since when do people care about it so much? It literally ruined most sites

| What could we do to fix it?

| id say its because people are using it to be political because they think its a consequence free space (which it is to some degree) but i can ruin some1's life now.
also a lot of normies have invaded the internet

| >>675146 true it started getting worse the moment youtube and facebook brought the normies

| Politics has always been everywhere, across all part of society. It's just that usually discussion about it happen in specific space.

Social media doesn't have segregation by topic, unlike boards like this one, so everything is just everywhere. Discussion on politic is lumped together with, like, people talking about the weather. And obviously politics attract more responses than the weather.

| yeah i kinda agree with above but thing is modern social media also puts you in bobbles with people you mostly agree with that image board don't.

| There's also the thing where if you see something agreeable you're more likely to
just nod along or drop a like and leave, while if you see something you don't like you're more compelled to post a reply. Conflict becomes more prevalent, more visible

| >>675152 true, a lot of people are blinded by bubble algorithims and start beliving that their ideas are the majority, thats also why misinfo is so prevalent on the internet, but the they decide to blame it on a political ideology instead of correcting their failed ai bots who only serve to make peolple more extreme

| >>675163
It's not "ai bots" or algorithms that turns people towards ideological bubbles. It's human nature and it's older than the internet. It's just more visible now when it's out in the open for everyone to see.
Completely unmoderated sites has the same problem. In fact some of the worst contenders for ideological bubbles happens in self-hosted or low-moderated sites/chatrooms.

| >>675123
Is every social media site actually a "warzone" though? It takes quite a lot of effort to get banned from a place like Facebook for example.

You basically need to openly support genocide or share racistical hate speech to get banned. The only group waging a "war" on social media are racist groups who feel they are being censored for their propaganda.

If you don't commit any crimes, don't support genocidal ideologies and don't post porn on the regular you won't be banned.

| >>02acce
Also what do you mean by shadow banning?

| >social midia is warzone
>shadow banning
>pre-written bubble algorithims
>ai bots being responsible

You sound like a paranoiac, OP.

| I seriously don't get some people. Why would you be upset because people are talking about politics? It's just wrong not to talk about it.

| >>675213
and you sound very naive

| >>675250
Explain.

Because I can assure you that none of those points are true. It's clearly written by someone who doesn't know much about how technology works under the hood.

| >>675214
Some people can't stand hearing a political view that doesn't correspond with their own.

Several groups(and cults) utilize this to trap people into ideologies and create a "us vs them"-mindset.

Like you I don't understand such people either.

| The internet has become very political after the 2016 elections.

| >>675266
Sounds like an America only-thing though?

| >>675205 omg you are so wrong, I bet you dont even know how they filter content

| >>675207 hate speach and terrorist groups have lost their meanings a while ago, now almost anything that more edgy can get you, heck I would argue that just saying you like trump gets you shadow banned

| >>675299
Explain it then.

| >>675300
>hate speach and terrorist groups have lost their meanings a while ago

Lol no, they're very much active to this day.

>heck I would argue that just saying you like trump gets you shadow banned

This is obviously not true. What do you get from lying so much?

| >>675273 unfourtunantly thanks to amrica having so much control and influence over the internet, a lot of countries have been influenced to get into politics

| >>675303
What does this even mean? Are you claiming other countries weren't politically active until the American election of 2016?

| >>675302 just yesterday there was a mass sharing of a video of a vegan dude on twitter saying he will vote for the orange thing, the video has vanished now, on twitter

| >>bfa943
my hero

| >>675305 not I'm claming that the political craziness on the world was influenced by the internet, of wich america has a lot of influence since their big sites are very global

| >>675306
Ok? And do you have any proof that this is due to shadow banning, as you claim it is?

| >>bfa943
I'm still waiting for you to explain how you think websites filter content btw.

>>675299 >>675301

| >>675309 why would a video of a vegan trump supporter be banned? And the dude only said "I will vote fote for trump" he didnt say any thing hatefull

| >>675311
> why would a video of a vegan trump supporter be banned?

Exactly. Your claim that it was banned is ridicilous.

| >>675310 their bots bassically share to you what they think you want to see, based on what you click, the problem is that anything you click is sent back, so if you see flat earth stuff you get a bunch of flat earth videos and communitites recomended

| Sigh. Another thread by that samefagging tosser from yesterday. Just stop trying to turn dangeru into your political echo chamber. It will never bear fruit.

>>02acce >>51500f >>bfa943 >>ac660d
Is all the same poster fyi

| >>675313
Yes, they will give you recommendations based on your previous browsing habits.

How exactly does that drive people towards extremist ideologies like you claimed earlier?

| >>675314 yo not really, I just>>02acce and>>bfa943 stoo with that samefagg thing, it doesnt add anything to tje discussion but then again it sounds like>>35b8f3 doesnt even want to learn about how internet moderation on big sites work so I dont feel like explainin why they are very uninformed about the current state of the internet

| >>675316
I can assure you that I already know how it works. It's your statements that doesn't hold up hence why I asked you to evaluate.

Which you still haven't done btw.

| >>675315 say I like terrist stuff then the bot gives me more terrorist stuff, and I dive in terrorist videos and communities, and I talk just these communities cuz the bot just recommends me that, guess what heppens?
Also the same happens with any thing,a fandom, an food, merchandise, ideologies, science etc

| >>675319
>say I like terrist stuff then the bot gives me more terrorist stuff
It doesn't. Stop lying.

| It literally only gives you what you want to hear not what you actually hear, it creates comfirmation bias, risk of geting into more extreme versions of what you want to see, bubbles you to only what you want to see and doesnt show anything that questions your opinion

| >>675314
i think you're a schizo, but unironically

| >>675321 sounds like someone who doesnt want to dicuss, well bye bye

| >>675314 you know that there could be 3 gurls that happen to agree with eachother right? Also the samefagg arguement is really dumb, how can you even know that 4 ids share the are from the same person like yeah i'm the op and I have 2 ids cuz they change every 24 hours.
I hate that samefagg thing cuz this is a anon site anyone could be here, also if I wanted an echo chamber I would be here, I just like to question the status quo and I make threads that make people see other opnions

| I meant that I wouldnt be here if I wanted an echo chamber, sorry, and I dont even mean to get political on discussions, not my fault that people bring up politics even on game discussions

| Ooh this thread reeks of bad faith arguments

| so this is why the internet is so bad nowadays!

| This thread is a shitshow, go back to /new/ ffs

| >>675360
Rather leave and never come back alltogether

| I wasnt the one who started discussing, just wanted to vent out how the these days everything on big sites has been so crappy

| >>675380
Your third post is literally this:
>>675145

Stop lying already.

| >>675381 >>675145
bruh that's you

| >>675314 due to the fact that cloudflare is really good, ids tend to change uncontrollably. samefagging is only samefagging if they're explicitly pretending to be multiple people, not just having different ids.

secondly, on top of that, >>ac660d didn't seem to be calling>>bfa943 his hero, but the vegan guy. so I'd expect that to be a different poster.

| more importantly, calling someone a samefag is never going to help a thread.

>>675145 A lot of the problem with current social media sites is aggregate main pages. In the past few years, facebook and reddit have both shifted from viewing different pages/subs to viewing central aggregators (reddit frontpage or r/all). That makes all posts less contextual, and more sensitive to popularity algorithms (by increasing their number).

| I think the best way to fix it would simply be to not use broadcasting platforms where you're engaging with content that has already been seen by more than a few thousand users max, and by visiting content sources (user pages or subreddits) rather than aggregators. That usually helps find more contextual (less political) content.

| >>675391
The guy has been samefagging in political discussions for several days with the same grammatical errors, same typos, same posting style, same arguments and same insults.

Sometimes during low-peak hours when there's only 2-3 active posters(but somehow we're supposed to believe there's a train of like-minded people who comes when the other guy leaves to take over where the former guy left off). If there's a false positive in that post it's because of this guys reputation.

| >>675395
post proof
>>675391
as >>675307 i called>>bfa943 my hero for the poster's amazingly insane internet chaos level
>>675395 is a schitzo retard, you're off your rocks

| >>675395 great, thanks for letting me know. pointing it out has surely helped prevent that from happening. now is there any hope of getting on track in this thread?

| >>675399 ah my apologies then

| >>675403
na you're olright

| >>675399
>is a schitzo retard
That's not very mature. Also, the only group that uses that meme to devalue someones opinion is the extreme right. Literally no other group uses it.

Neither one of you aren't exactly subtle with what you're trying to achieve.

| >>675409
>Neither one of you aren't exactly subtle with what you're trying to achieve
schitzophrenic paranoïa. i bet you believe the CIA is out to get you somehow.

| >>675411
If it looks like a zebra, eats like a zebra and walks like zebra. It's a fucking zebra.

| well, I did my best to save this thread. guess it was too late.

| >>675413
well in this case it's not a zebra.
>>675414
right. >>35b8f3 fucked up everything. i plead to mods to close this thread and be more aggressive in closing other shit threads in the future. we can't let dangeru get 4channed any longe

| >>35b8f3 the zebra arguement folowed by the "only extreme right wing do that" classic, then they call me the samefagg, I know who you are, you keep saying stuff like that in so many discussion threads, you keep bringing politics and going off topic, dude you are the real samefagg here

| >>675394 I like your solution, I think it would be better if we forced those sites to change or redo their bots cuz its their fault that so many people are falling for misinfo and absurd politics, but then journalists blame either online communities or on political groups, thats when we have those online purges

| You know what, Im gonna make a thread to bash on journalists on /new/
